    My 2.7 gets crazy good mileage in the mountains of Colorado. Averaged 27.3 (computer) on return trip from Cochetopa Park to Boulder last week.   3. Where do you “off-road” in your ranger?

    I have not run the Alpine Loop yet, but have done similar and more difficult trails, you'll have no problem! The only thing I've noticed is that I've hit my bash plate and crossmember braces quite a bit. The stock FX4 does lack clearance, but it's a billy goat.

    Below Clear Lake in Colorado. Parked here for a hike and when I returned I had to drop the skid plate to get a marmot out from the engine bay, he was determined to stay in there.

    Get rid of or redesign those rock-magnet transmission cross braces.

    I think this is very cool, but I just can't see myself riding on 10-ply tires. I'd love to get an extra inch of clearance, but I think I will settle for 255/75r17 and be happy with an extra half inch. Anyways, great information shared!
