I’ve had this a couple times and I think it happens when you shift to reverse or drive before the lights had a chance to align themselves. At least that’s my theory so far.
Not uncommon for new vehicles to have older batteries. Who knows how long the battery sat in a warehouse or on the lot. I’ve had several new vehicles, cars and motorcycles, I’ve had to replace the battery in the first year.
