When I was first doing a test fit with the Toyos, the shop fitted a steel spacer between the hub and wheel, maybe 3/8th to 1/2 inch thick. This gave extra space between the tire and front knuckle, but it pushed the wheel and tire out past the fender too far for my liking. I ended up forgoing...
Although quite close to the knuckle, I have not noticed rubbing. The tire dealer did a lot of measuring prior to selecting the 275 cross section size rather than 285 for just the extra clearance provided. Had I installed 285’s, rubbing would have been likely.
Marginally louder than the original Goodyear Wranglers but not enough to really notice. The original spare tire is in place. I can’t remember the last time I had to use a spare tire. Probably fine for a short trip as needed.
One other metal shell you might consider is from RLD Design, a very similar shell to the Smart Cap and also made in South Africa. I looked at them and while I ended up going with the Smart Cap, many buyers rate them highly.
When researching potential tires, I discovered most LT275/285 section tires were in the 51-56 pound range. By selecting a non-LT tire, the weight of a standard (XL rated) Toyo Open Country RT 275/70R17 is 42 pounds. This makes a noticeable difference in fuel economy and my real world...
Here’s a bit of clarification on pushbutton start on XLT models: According to the dealer that sold me my 2024 XLT, the prior year 2023 Ranger had three XLT packages, 300, 301 and 302. The pushbutton start was part of the high level 302 package, but for reasons only known to Ford, this package...
I did a factory order on my Ranger and the salesman went through all the available options. I don’t recall everything in the package or it’s name but it did have a power seat in it as well.
It’s not a stand-alone option, but is included in a pricy package on the Ranger XLT. I wanted it as well, but not all the things that came with it in the package.
2024 XLT FX4, 2.7. Toyo Open Country R/T 275/70R17 on factory 17 x 7.5 FX4 wheels. Stock FX4 suspension, no mods. No rubbing or clearance issues. Very happy with the combination.
I’m sorry, I don’t know the factory wheel offset. I went to a local tire shop I used and they did some measuring and recommended the 275/70R17 Toyos. The factory wheels are 7.5 inches wide, so for a 285 cross-section tire you might need a wider 8 inch wheel. I wanted to avoid the wheel-tires...
I have a 2024 Ranger 4x4, 2.7 ecoboost, FX4 package that came with 255/70R17 Goodyears like yours on the factory FX4 wheels. I swapped them for Toyo Open Country R/T’s in the 275/70R17 size keeping the factory wheels and suspension. I have many miles of off road use with excellent traction...
