Interesting the Toyota site also shows no start stop on the OR but it was definitely on the one I drove

I think you might be mistaking start/stop function and hybrid battery turning off the engine. Two different functions.

Start/Stop is when you completely stop the car and the engine shuts off until you press the gas pedal.

Hybrid battery can shut off the engine and run on the hybrid battery assist before engine kicks in. This can happen during a stop/redlight or coasting.

I've had mine a few weeks now, haven't driven it much (weird, I know) and filled it up for the first time yesterday...18mpg on a TRD ORP Hybrid with Nitto Ridge Grappler Upgrade. Not great, and that's considering I reset the trip and MPG with a full tank at 6 miles.

I did 40 miles yesterday, averaged 23.1 on the way home driving it like an absolute sissy.

I compared the eco mode and normal mode. ECO mode is not fuel-efficient and the acceleration response is also slow. In normal mode, I drove 700 miles in the local area and the current average fuel consumption is 21.5-21.8
Super helpful. I had been using eco mode. Did 180 mile trip today in Normal mode with gravel roads and highway— jumped up to above 21 avg.

Does the higher octane really make that much of a difference in fuel economy? I've always understood that a higher octane will not have any affect on mpg. Sounds like the hybrid is a boost in fuel economy on the low speed driving and idling. I personally would never want to waste money on more expensive fuel when it's designed for 87. One reason why the LC was out of the question for my use.
I think the slight increase in range has more to do with getting past the break in period. Don't know if octane has an impact on MPG but there is a thread out there that shows a dyno with a small bump in power with higher octane.

Drove a Tacoma ORP and didn't notice the engine stopping. There are some threads on which models have it and which don't along with the spec sheet on Toyota site. That all said still seems to be some confusion on which actually do and which don't.
I believe only the gas engines have the start/stop. All Max engines do not have that function.

HV engines dont get a SS button to turn it off since you have HV battery to compensate.

Didn't look for a button and that sucks. Something about the start/stop stuff just seems like it will create a problem down the road.

I've owned many vehicles with start-stop, including a 2020 X3M Comp and a Rav4 Hybrid (wife's daily) and none of them have ever had issues. Honestly, no one I've ever known has had issues with start/stop on any vehicle.

toyota's implementation of SS is actually pretty easy to use.

1. unless you press the brake pedal more than 1/3 or 1/2 or rapidly, SS will not engage.

2. if you are a person that likes to mash the brake pedal at the last second, then SS will be annoying.

3. if you gradually press the brake pedal to come to a stop then SS will never engage.

4. if you are lucky you can get a SS turn off button, but you have to press it every time you use the starter to start the engine. it will reset after each ignition off cycle.

if you use the brake pedal moderately to bring youself to a stop, a pop-up will come on in the MID screen telling you to press the brake pedal more to engage SS

so you have best of both worlds, people that like SS and those that dont and way to get around it engaging.

Just FYI - if you go to the equivalent Land Cruiser forum there are extensive discussions and data around this for those with the hybrid. Takes 3000-5000kms + weather + learning how to drive a hybrid to max efficiency to reach posted numbers (realize there are differences between the runner and LC but similar in enough ways to get the drift)
