I would bet money that we'll see a Ranger Tremor before an ST or a Lobo. Personally, a Tremor makes very little sense to me in the US market because of how the Raptor was priced but I would never discourage Ford from producing a Tremor if it makes people happy. If Ford does produce an ST, it...
I wish that Ford would make a Ranger ST. Between the Ranger Raptor and the Explorer ST parts that already exist, it wouldn't take much to develop a Ranger ST. If they offered a Ranger ST with the 3.0 turbo, AWD, the Ranger Raptor interior, a mild lowing kit with aggressive street focused...
Thank you for posing these questions, this information is what I really want to know and I hope that we get some more detailed responses..
I wish people would stop using the word "better" when describing ride. What is better for some people is not better for others. If you do mostly highway...
Ford could offer this in the North American market without affecting the F Series sales title...all they have to do is call it the F-100 Ranger Super Duty.
The Ranger actually started as a trim level for the F Series. Does anyone know why Ford didn't call it the F-100 Ranger when it returned...
A Ranger ST wouldn't really compete with anything else in the Ford lineup, there is no comparable F150 trim. If it was the first sporty midsize truck to market, it would be more likely to steal sales from the Tacoma, Colorado and Canyon.
Sadly, you're probably right.
Still, between the R Raptor and the Explorer ST, all of the parts are already there. Development costs for a Ranger ST would be very little. Hopefully, the Maverick Lobo is a huge success and reignites the market for street oriented trims.
I am also very interested in the OPs first hand opinion and experience with the Ranger Raptor vs Explorer ST. I prefer having a pickup box than a 3 row SUV but I also prefer on road driving dynamics instead of off road capability that I will never use. I also need to tow a 4200 lbs travel...
I agree, the Ranger Raptor is much harder to justify in Canada. We need Ford family pricing with $12K discounts but they probably won't do that on Raptor models. I am seeing them advertised at $2K off MSRP so $3-4K discounts are probably realistic now, especially for a 2024.
I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport Upgrade and a 2020 Mustang GT 401A PP2 and I would like upgrade my truck. Canadian pricing is completely different from USA pricing but also, the market is very different. The reality is that there are many 2024 Ranger Raptors sitting on dealership lots that are...
Can you please explain how 0-60 in 6.5 is quicker than 6.2 seconds? I agree that the neither vehicle is slow, but I think you should be confident to line up against your wife's Jeep in a drag race. Especially since you have a 4x2 STX, your truck is light and should be a relative 2.3L rocket!
I was curious about your acceleration comment so I looked it up. You should be happy to know that Car and Driver has tested the following:
2.0t Wrangler
0-60 6.5 seconds
0-100 20.1 seconds
1/4 mile 15.2 @ 90 mph
2.3t Ranger
0-60 6.2 seconds
0-100 17.7 seconds
1/4 mile 14.8 @ 93 mph
This is a...
That's how I feel about Carbonized Gray. It seems that every third vehicle around my area is some form of medium dark metallic gray. It is so bland, generic and boring. It is the color to get when you don't care about color.
I would say that it is worth your time to test drive a Lariat 2.7 as it will give you a general idea of how the Ranger Raptor will feel, keeping in mind that the Raptor has even better seats, better exhaust note and better suspension. I would recommend that you avoid test driving an XLT or...
I am glad that Ford separated the running boards out of the FX4 package, it gives buyers more choice. All running boards have ever done for me is get my pants dirty.
To the OP, very nice build! It is close to how I might order a non-Raptor Ranger. Good luck with the waiting game, hopefully...
It would be interesting to read some professional reviews on this subject or if Ford would provide some real detail about the suspension specifications for each package. It is curious that in the Ranger world, some people are saying that the FX4 package will generally ride rougher on the...
If there is a market for yet another off road trim, then I'm sure Ford will offer a Tremor in the near future. I wish Ford would go back to offering a street focused trim level. The new Maverick Lobo offers us some hope. Take the engine, interior, 4A setting, coil spring rear suspension and...
I'm not sure of the complete specs of the Sport 4x4 that the OP didn't end up buying but it is worth noting that you can get a 4x4 with a locking diff without getting the FX4 package. I specifically use my truck for hauling and towing and I do not want the softer springs and shock tuning that...
Not really, a similar spec'd Tacoma is $48,970 in the US.
In Canada, the TRD Pro is $80k and the Trailhunter is $86K.
The worst part is that Canadians are getting destroyed when it comes to Ranger Raptor pricing. In the US, a Raptor is what, about $3-4K more than a loaded Lariat 2.7? Here in...
This is a great thread, it will be interesting for me to follow along.
I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport (4x4, V6, manual, upgrade pkg) that has been great. Since it is a manual, I have none of the transmission programming issues that plague the 3rd gen automatic Tacoma's. The manual also comes...
Do the non-BAP versions have black unpainted wheel lip moldings for MY 2025? On every (2024 Canadian) XLT or Lariat Ranger that I've seen in person, the wheel lip moldings are painted magnetic grey, the same as the front grill and bumper. This was part of the standard Sport Appearance Package...
