  1. 2025 2.7 What Octane?

I've even used 87 when towing about 3,800 pounds (2,400 pound car, 1,400 pound open trailer). I used 91 for a few tanks and felt no difference in performance, and sow no improvement in gas mileage. I would go 91 if I tow near its max, on hot days, or climbing mountains.
  2. 2.7L owners, what does your cold start sound like?

Sounds pretty normal to me. Even after draining the oil and changing the filter out, I don't hear anything that would concern me with my 2.7T V6. I currently have about 15k miles on my engine.
  3. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

You can use the procedure shown in this video to test the brake controller. I didn't have a test light so I used a automotive brake light bulb, and it served the same function.
  4. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Yes, my truck already has the 7-pin plug, and I used the etrailer.com Redarc kit intended for the 2024 Bronco. I have not tested the Auto-Emergency Braking system with the trailer hooked up.
  5. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Happy to report that the Redarc trailer brake controller I installed back in January works with my new trailer.
  6. Anyone change the oil in their 2.7L V6 yet?

Hi, if you are referring to engaging the 'clear flood' mode, all I do is press the brake pedal, press the accelerator all the way to the floor (and I mean pin it to the floor), and turn the key to the start position and hold it for 5 seconds or so. Then return the key to the off position. Once...
  7. Anyone change the oil in their 2.7L V6 yet?

I recently did an oil change on my with about 1,000 miles on it. As others have mentioned, the oil splashes onto the cross member which was annoying. But it was fairly straight forward. Here are some photos of the factory oil filter cut a apart. There is a lot less "glitter" than I expected with...
  8. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

@Hootbro posted some schematics on page 1 of this thread, and from what I can tell, in order to connect the factory Trailer Brake Control Switch to the factory trailer brake controller module, another pigtail seems to be needed and I couldn't find it on the existing harness or as a separate part...
  9. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

If there is a way to 'turn on' the factory trailer brake controller that would be great. In my investigation and simple teardown of the dash bezel, I couldn't find the plug for the trailer brake gain controller. Which is this item: [Credit: outmotorsports youtube channel: ]
  10. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Sorry to hear about the challenges. I have the $495 "Trailer Tow Package" which has the 7 and 4 pin socket installed at the factory. I never tested the "pin 12" as shown by @RangerDangerStranger in https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/wires-for-trailer-brake-controller-24-ranger.11415/page-3...
  11. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

If I recalled correctly, it did when I connected the test light bulb to the brake output pin in the 7-pin socket. When I attached a volt meter to the same brake output pins I received an error message.
  12. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

I too have the Liberty model, and upon first instalation the LED on the knob was flashing blue-green. I was able to use the test procedure outlined in the video, to verify function, and change the brightness of the bulb by turning the knob, and then applying the brakes. I think the video does...
  13. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

I think you are very close. Getting the Green/Blue alternating LED means the controller senses a trailer; I also got this indication when I connected the light bulb to the trailer brake pin on the socket. I replicated the instructions in this video from REDARC using a 12v light bulb. I used...
  14. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Oops sorry, I misspoke. In the Ford Parts link the wiring harnesses are different for those with an 'Instrument panel with electric trailer brake controller', they have different part numbers. I will fix my post. In addition I removed the instrument panel bezel and didn't find a connector for a...
  15. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Unfortunately it looks like the 2024 Rangers with the "Advanced Trailering Package" (ATP) instrument panel mounted trailer brake controller (TBC) has a different wiring harness than those without. So I don't believe you can add the switches and 'turn on' the the trailer brake controller in...
  16. This is the first vehicle Ive driven in 20 years missing this one thing

LoL, I get it. I owned a E92 M3 for a few years, and the infamous 'bong' sound is the same for a below 39*F warning, and limp mode/impending engine failure warning.
  17. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

Awesome! Glad you saw that. I called it a "protective cap" in my post. And I also tried to plug my TPH-007 adapter into that dongle until I looked closer. Hope you get your controller up and running.
  18. Was there a definte Change for the Bed Support?

Without removing any parts, you can confirm that your Ranger has the updated design by looking up in that area while under the truck.
  19. wires for trailer brake controller '24 Ranger?

The harness that is supplied withe the 2024 Ford Bronco etrailer.com kit essentially mimics what you have to do with the Ford harness adapter found here (except its not over $100)...
