Good suggestion!! I may add the j-braces fix kit to increase the bed rail capacity so I can add a bed rack for kayaks. I bought the kit, but have not installed yet - as I am still debating the rack.

Yes competing product. Fluid Film is lanolin based - a byproduct of sheep wool (hence the farm smell). NHOU is mineral oil based. They have an option to add mint extract to deter mice. The smell wears away fairly quickly…. I assume as does the efficacy.

Check out the Kuat Ibex system that mounts the bikes to the sides of the rack. Looks sick but is $$$

Checkout the Kuat Ibex system. Looks sick, but I have not gotten one myself. I am still in the market. Yakima has a good looking system too. Do some research if your truck was built before July 2024. If so there is a weight limit on the top of gunnels that requires a fix kit.

From my research, rack install is only an issue on 01/2024 - 07/2024 Rangers due to a lack of structural integrity inside bed rails… that can be remedied by installing J-braces. HOWEVER, I cannot find any information from Ford that states what the top-of-bed-rails max capacity increases TO once...
