Less mods, more road trips! I've been busy putting some miles under Rainier.
First off, a trip to Atlanta and Charlotte for my girlfriend's birthday weekend. I took her to her two favorite places, the Georgia Aquarium and ST Octane Academy! 2,467.9 miles. The trip fuel economy worked out pretty...
What are you running for a visor bar? I'm slowly compiling lights to be run by my Whelen Cantrol and I'm interested to see how you mounted it. Mine's gonna be full duo red/amber, with four trio red/amber/white in the windshield and the grille trio red/amber/white.
Would love to see a video if...
I wired the switch for my driving lights to only be hot with the high beams.
Switch off, lights off
Switch on, lights on with high beams
Makes turning them all off a one-switch deal when someone pops up in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah it was about a truck length after the change. Definitely deer country.
I think I mostly found it strange because I didn't add any throttle, it happened right as I straightened the wheel.
Guess this means I have to go find some weird intersections for...science :sunglasses:
Coming up a rainy on-ramp in Pennsylvania, the truck got a little loose under a 30% throttle applied acceleration. 20 hours out of the Ford Performance ST Octane Academy, I was pretty fresh in my vehicle handling, but I was certainly not expecting it.
285/70R17 Goodyear Duratracs and stock FX4...
I do pretty regular maintenance washes, but I also just drove 1,000 miles up the east coast in a rain storm. The beads of water formed "lanes" on the hood they pretty much stuck to all day; left a really neat design on the hood when I got on the boat. Nothing more than the fine stuff in the...
I've been towing a lot of trailers lately, and, while most of them are light, they're getting heavier. Time to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite that's been in my back seat for two months.
Installing the Redarc was simple enough, but dang, the factory harness wires are SHORT! They had me bent at...
Thank you! Overall, I don’t know but I’d estimate it’s about 2.5-3 inches taller than stock at the roof without the 2m antenna. The tires probably bring it up 1.25” and the front lift another 1.5” in the middle. The antenna is 23” tall, but it’s spring loaded and will bend to the height of the...
Thank you! I'm planning on two Whelen Strip-Lite Plus DUO Red/Amber (or White/Amber, not sure yet) lightheads under the tailgate. I have to be picky about the lights that I use because they're going to be controlled by a Cantrol, so they can't use an internal flasher.
Going from internally...
Started figuring out a bracket to mount some Whelen ION Duo lights in the rear window. Having a sliding rear window and no clothes hooks in the headliner meant I had to get creative, a normal light stick or RST Inner Edge won't have anything to mount to without drilling through the headliner...
Under the bumper are five pop clips to remove the plastic above the tow hooks, I removed the 4 outer ones and bolted the lights through the holes. Would've been a lot easier with the grille out to access the nuts on the back side of the bumper OR with only two lights, but there's enough room to...
Finally got a nice day off to wire up the Baja Designs lights, and WOW, they're bright. I currently have them wired to the switch that comes with the Lightforce fascia, eventually I'll separate the wide and spot pairs with a two-button Lightforce switch. When the switch is active, the lights...
