  1. 2025 Ranger PHEV Hybrid Revealed w/ Pro Power Onboard, 28 Miles Range, Arriving Early 2025 (Europe/AUS)

Not so sure about that. Ford already acknowledged they grossly underestimated the demand for Maverick Hybrid.
  2. Chevy Colorado - Not what I thought

"Greedflation" - Farley has been out signaling against a price war with Tesla on BEVs and the auto industry in general continues the story about shortages when there is increasing evidence that companies are using it as an excuse to push up prices and shore up demand. Much easier for Ford and...
  3. Report: PHEV Plug-in Hybrid Ranger Launching in Australia Next Year, Followed by U.S.

Well assuming its out a year ahead of the US in Oz then at least we get to see all the specs/performance and probably some indication of price premium. It should be relevant to the US as its likely to be a single WW consistent PHEV power plant, given it seems to be using a 2.3 gas engine for the...
  4. 2024 Ranger Body Builders Layout Guide – Confirms Tremor and 2.7L Engine

Still looks like multiple instances of old data though. For example, the page 7 table is headed Supercab 4x2 and still lists the 2023 wheelbase. The page 8 table removed the Tremor reference but still lists the 2023 wheelbase for the other options. Who knows what else is incorrect, I haven't...
  5. 2024 Ranger Body Builders Layout Guide – Confirms Tremor and 2.7L Engine

Saw that on page 8 but also noticed that the wheelbases in that table are different to those quoted higher up on page 6, so we might be seeing cut 'n' paste errors, as seemed to be the case with some of the tech specs released on launch day.
  6. Ford Motor Company Here

Frontier actually outsold Ranger for 2022 per data from TFL Truck shown below. But, there have been a lot of moving parts across the different manufacturers over the last couple of years, against a backdrop of changing models and supply chain issues, so IMO drawing conclusions on what the market...
  7. New competition is revealed!

Interesting to read everyone's perspectives. IMO Ford can't afford sit on its laurels with F-150 and Maverick. If any cannibalization of F-150 takes place due to mid-size sales then its better for Ford if its a Ranger, rather than any of the competition. So soft-pedaling on Ranger may not be...
  8. Competition: 2024 Tacoma Revealed!

Yup, expected to be in a new vehicle by now when I started thinking about this a few years back but the pandemic supply issues and absurd prices put paid to that plan. My main requirement for a truck is for an overlanding/touring vehicle. As such a 6' bed is desirable for me too. I don't need...
  9. Competition: 2024 Tacoma Revealed!

It seems worth pointing out that we are just at the start of the production lifetimes for all the new mid-sized trucks, so perhaps not worth reading too much into the strategies and commitment for any of the players, especially Ford, based on what we have seen so far. They will all be looking at...
  10. Changes to 2024 Ranger Tech Specs (U.S.) since launch -- Minimum Running Ground Clearance + Departure Angle

The Ranger Tech Specs PDF posted on the Ford Media website has been changed since May 10. The most notable change from my perspective was: Minimum Running Ground Clearance -- the 4x2 dropping from 9.3" to 8.8" and the 4x4 dropping from 10.4" to 9.3". Departure Angle -- 0.7 degrees drop on...
  11. fuel tank size

Likewise, but when out in the boonies there's usually a tree or rock or just the wide open wilderness that can address that; finding a refueling facility at said locations not so much. Which may force carrying a 5-gall can and the hassle of having to mount that somewhere external to a truck camper.
  12. USA Ranger Reveal: What questions remain?

To add to OP's questions I am curious as to what fixture/attachment mechanisms there are hidden under the three plastic caps in the top of the bed rails on each side. One video I saw removed the cap but didn't show inside. What are the different on-off control situations for the in-bed 12v and...
  13. USA Ranger Reveal: What questions remain?

I suspect, given the large unforecasted demand for the hybrid Maverick holding back shipments, that Ford held off a hybrid for the launch Ranger. It also simplifies their initial production line, along with only one cab and engine option at this time, given late availability for the 2.7l. Also...
  14. USA Ranger Reveal: What questions remain?

I didn't see the curved cable guides in one of the launch videos I watched and one of the YT reviewers specifically stated that the cable was fixed in place and didn't detach for mounting at a different position. As Moto26 said, the 48" between the wheel wells allows 4'x8's to lie flat, which is...
  15. Ford Missed The Boat

Hah, if I were a Ford shareholder I'd be upset about that lack of ambition, if that is actually Ford's perspective. However, I suspect Ford has a more aggressive target fro Ranger and will want to replicate how Bronco seems to be catching and overtaking Jeep Wrangler, which was probably...
  16. All-New 2024 Ford Ranger Officially Debuts for North America! $34,160 Starting Price

I think they just showed the trucks they plan to manufacture at this time, minimizing variations on the production line as they ramp. Hence no 6 foot bed SuperCab option or Tremor with different suspension at this time. Almost certainly they also want to push customers towards the Raptor to...
  17. Official: US Spec 2024 Ranger + Ranger Raptor Debut on May 10!

Thanks for that. What you describe makes a lot of sense given a desire for a PHEV Bronco solution too, to counter the Jeep 4Xe. It reminded me that the Aussie mag, Car Expert, reported a leak way back before the Ranger even launched that a PHEV would be available. I went back to see what they...
  18. Official: US Spec 2024 Ranger + Ranger Raptor Debut on May 10!

I agree. I'm looking at medium trucks as a platform for light overlanding/touring. Pro power would allow me to avoid carrying propane/diesel for cooking/heating in the shoulder seasons and I could go full on glamping with the power generation available. Hopefully the hybrid would also provide...
  19. Official: US Spec 2024 Ranger + Ranger Raptor Debut on May 10!

You seem to be confusing MPG numbers with range? The hybrid Mavericks seem to routinely achieve around 40 MPG. Its not possible to get 40 miles of range from the small battery used in a standard hybrid.
