Likely that was not your transmission, That was what happens when a turbo charged engine bogs out. That situation stalled the truck for just a moment - no torque to the transmission no forward motion. It was just the right set of circumstances.
I jumped ship while waiting a year for my Ford and purchased a Nissan frontier pro 4X , which I'm very happy with. But always leaves me with the question how much I would have loved my Ford ranger XLT...
To be honest I'm super happy so I'm not looking back. It was a risky move but it worked out.
What's interesting - the camera, the steering and turning radius all can be fixed ( wonder why Nissan isn't laser focused on that...) But anyway this is a Ford forum. First year model for the Ranger - I think will have all bugs ironed out next year. This is unfortunately expected of a new...

Wow 300lbs heavier in the Frontier....
+2 inches for the Ranger width
+2 inches for the overall Ranger height
-So really no significant size difference - Just enough to see in the side by side photo...
I Totally don't agree that the Ranger looks Huge against the Frontier. I thought the Frontier was actually SMALLER than it appeared and when I saw them together I thought the Ranger was not as big as was made out to be. I specifically noted that when I saw the video. Whatever. I think that...
The real savings appears to be in City driving... I get 24 mpg on my 23 Nissan Frontier V6 -- on the highway.... so it's the city where the Turbo romps... I only get 17 in the city
