  1. Red and Yellow tire dots

Interesting. Always kinda wondered about that myself.
  2. 2.7L Fuel Economy

Guess I've been lucky. Mines been averaging around 22-23 mpg since new. When it had around 200 miles we did a 260 mile day trip in it. Filled the tank with 91 octane before and after. Hand calculated at 28 mpg for that trip.
  3. 2026 Ranger XL "Steelies" stock rim

Probably because the wheel is an inch wider than the stock wheel. According to the tire specs on Tire Rack, wheel width range for a 255 tire is 6.5" - 8.5" .
  4. Carbon buildup after 34,000 miles with single valve catch can (scope view)

I wonder the same thing. The 2.7L and the 3.0L are the same architecture engines. Seems like it wouldn't be a stretch. Actually, I wonder why they haven't already done it.
  5. Protecting against trail stripes - worth trying?

Lol! We have a thing called "Nevada Pinstriping" here. Hauling one of these around with me might not be a bad idea.
  6. Carbon buildup after 34,000 miles with single valve catch can (scope view)

It would be interesting to know what gas and oil he uses but I doubt it would make much difference. The intake deposits are a common result of the direct injection. No fuel washes over the valves during the intake stroke. That's why some manufacturers are adding port injection to DI engines...
  7. 2026 Ranger XL "Steelies" stock rim

From Cyber's post: "A service writer at the dealership said they are the old Ranger Raptor wheels." Probably explains why they are so cheap. Trying to move em out. The other alloy wheels seem to be going for around $400 and up. Heck, you can get a wheel kit that includes 4 wheels, TPMS...
  8. Carbon buildup after 34,000 miles with single valve catch can (scope view)

Unfortunately looks typical for a TGDI engine. I'm a little surprised by that amount of buildup at 34K miles. Interested to see what it looks like after your intake service. I suspect walnut shell cleaning is going to be needed though. Kinda glad I have the 2.7L engine. Thanks for the work...
  9. My 25 Ranger XLT 2.7 hesitates or fails to engage during low speed maneuvers.

Honestly I don't know. I never figured out if it was the engine or tranny that couldn't figure out what it wanted to do.
  10. My 25 Ranger XLT 2.7 hesitates or fails to engage during low speed maneuvers.

Just over 2k miles on my Ranger now. Maybe it's getting better or I'm just getting used to it but I don't notice it much anymore. I never felt it was unsafe, just annoying. Enough that I was wondering if the Ford Performance Tune would help.
  11. 255/75/17 mud terrain tire fitment on stock setup

I have to agree. Ran 255/75 then 265/70R17 on my JKU Wrangler Sport. I didn't notice much difference. Both were fine. An advantage is they only run a half inch or so bigger diameter than the stock tire so I would think a person would not have to mess with programing for the tire size. I...
  12. 255/75/17 mud terrain tire fitment on stock setup

I would think they would work. They would only be about an inch larger diameter than the stock tires and are a touch slimmer. I'm thinking about that size myself. Here is a pic of Nightmare's truck with 255's on it.
  13. Fuel Injection Cleaner due to 10% Ethanol Gas

10% has been the norm around here for years. If you're running a top tier gas I wouldn't worry about a fuel additive. I usually get fuel from Maverick because of the Nitro Card discount. Around every oil change, 4-5 thousand miles, I'll pour a bottle of Techron into the fuel tank.
  14. Spare Tire decision

If the spare is a matching tire/wheel with TPMS then I would do a 5 tire rotation. I looked under my XLT and noticed a steel wheel and the cheapest tire Ford could come up with. At least it's a matching size. 4 tire rotation for me until I can get a matching tire/wheel.
  15. Radiator Upgrade

I don't have a RR but I am curious. Are you having an issue with the stock cooling? Fans at start up may be a result of the A/C and climate control. Turn the A/C off and see if it still does it.
  16. Realtruck Bakflip MX4 - rail hardware keeps loosening

I just checked mine a little while. All were still there and reasonably tight. Is 10 ft lb of torque called for? I didn't recall seeing a torque value specified. I just used a T30 tip in a screwdriver handle and hand tightened. Works so far. OP, mine also has a slight upward tilt on the...
  17. Realtruck Bakflip MX4 - rail hardware keeps loosening

Hmm, guess I better check mine. Got Vibra-Tite and blue Loctite if needed.
  18. Nevada WTB XL/Spare steel wheels.

Thought I would try this. I've always preferred steel wheels over alloy for off road use. So, I'm looking for 17" steel XL wheels. I think they are the same for the spare tires. Prefer something on the left coast but I can supply prepaid shipping labels via email. I would just need box...
  19. New member-1st. post

Yes, It is Desert Sand. Love the color so far. It really doesn't show the dirt and dust after a day in the desert. Heck, I've only washed it once so far, Lol. A few years ago I had a Carbonized Gray F-150. It showed everything and I really wasn't happy with it. Here is a pic of my Ranger...

Welcome! Your Ranger sounds like it will be perfect for what you do. I picked my Ranger up toward the end of June. It get's better fuel mileage than I expected, comfortable and the 2.7L hauls my rpod TT with power to spare. I wouldn't think the dealer changing hands will cause you any...
