They took about 2 days to figure it out and order the module. It took another 2 days to receive it and 1 day to install and test. Overall I think they had it for 5 or 6 days. No issues since.

I just put some black caulk around the caps and it seems to work pretty well.

Just in case anyone is interested, I got the issue resolved. The dealer determined that the gear shift module (MB3Z-7210-JG) was causing the fault code. They replaced it and everything is good now.
