  2. Just for Fun: If You Were the Ranger Designer, What Would You Change?

Placement of the rear sliding window switch could be in a different location every time I use it the driver behind me thinks I'm giving him the finger. The USB port should be illuminated so the operator of the vehicle does not have to feel and search for it being that's its tucked under the...
  3. Latest recall 2025 XLT.

I received this today. It will have to be serviced manually by the dealer.
  4. Rear axle stays locked

I don't even bother to put it in sand mode I just input everything in manually while in normal mode. I use 4 wheel high then continually hold the traction control button down to disable the traction and advanced traction control. (This will be shown on you dash panel) and lock or unlock the rear...
  5. SYNC-25.2.4.10 software update

Has everyone here receive this update. I have had my Ranger for a year and just got this. With that said it did stop a lot of the glitches that were occurring in the system. I had received 3 or 4 update throughout the year.
  6. Transmission “banging” noise and jerk

Yes. Once in a while this happens but the vehicle does not lurch forward. The transfer case seems to be shifting into a default position. Just a guess. Other than that It has performed as expected on the beach sand and on the road as well.
  7. Happy Easter

    Happy Easter.
  8. Check Engine Light and P04DB code - 3rd occurrence

Hope that solves the problem. The bulletin did say that a modified PCV system or air intake system could cause inaccurate results. I would guess that you did not modify anything.
  9. Ranger owners keep your vehicle clean!

Most of the rats in NY stay in the subway or on farms. No problem it's the two legged ones that i worry about.
  10. Check Engine Light and P04DB code - 3rd occurrence

Did the technician check the PCV valve on the 2.7 it's possible it could be faulty. You might think it's not likely to be the problem however is easy to check.
  11. 2024 xlt transmission "clunk"

Take it to the dealer or your local mechanic. The first thing I would inspect would be the driveshaft connector joints or any transmission mounts before assuming it's a transmission problem. Then go on from there. Just guessing from what you're saying.

That's why I recommended Ford Motorcraft 5W-30 Synthetic blend API SQ suited for Turbo charge Direct and Duel injection engines to that individual. I only said that a 10-30 could be beneficial if he's going to use his vehicle for extended rough service. As an auto tech for 33 year for the City...

  15. Anyone bump up their oil weight from 5w-30 to 10w-30 after about 5000 miles .

5-40 would would have a higher viscosity. Meaning thicker oil better suited for higher operating temperatures and higher ambient temperatures.
  16. Anyone bump up their oil weight from 5w-30 to 10w-30 after about 5000 miles .

If you want to use 10-30 wait until the warmer weather when the temperature is over 75 degrees. It would be beneficial if you're running your Ranger hard on a beach or off road where you would generate a lot of heat. Other wise 5-30 is fine for normal use. A 5-30 will break down faster in high...
