Neat drain plug. I went to their site to check it out since I won't have my truck for months, lol.

Make sure if you get it to watch their videos. They have an interlock groove that locks the black base in place and if it's removed improperly, you could damage your oil pan drain.

The UPR plugs are so much more convenient if you are fine not buying on Amazon. No need to keep track of a drain adapter, just flip the valve and drain.

I can't speak for the UPR drain valve. The 2 catch cans I bought from them both leaked like sieves due to poor machining.
I can vouch for the quality of the Ronin valve. I have one on my Ranger and also had one on my Lincoln. The quality is top notch.

As always, a good clean helpful video. You've validated my oil extractor change method though after seeing how the oil gushed out of the drain plug. The extractor also lets me pull some additional oil out of the filter housing as an added bonus and I don't have to remove the skid or even go under the truck.

Hopefully the Ronin plug will be reliable and keep the mess down in the future for you and I'll be interested to see the future Blackstone data.

I put the Ronin on my truck during its first oil change. Expecting the next oil change to be much cleaner.
Seems like a quality piece, no leaks.

I heard about the UPR valve and checked it out in one of their videos. They mentioned the magnet on the end of the plug, which I liked.

HOWEVER, to check the magnet you have to remove the plug, which defeats the core purpose to get their valve. I commented on that in the video. The response? You don't have to remove the valve to change the oil.

My response ... I understand that, but you need to make that clear when mentioning the magnet. PLUS, the valve has an O ring. By design, O rings are intended to be single use, so do you provide a few replacements or at least the O ring specs?

Their response: "Again, removal of the plug is not necessary to drain the oil. That's why you want it."

I don't know if the UPR person responding is an idiot, or dishonestly deflecting, but it left me with a bad impression of UPR.

Note: the Ronin plug also has a magnet, and the plug also has to be removed. I've read (but don’t know) that the O ring is an odd size. My conclusion is that the magnets on these are a bad gimmick. To use the magnet you have to either source your own odd size O ring, risk a leak, or just remove it when you're done with that plug.

The O-ring is a standard size. The Ronin valve can be removed in like 5 seconds if you want to check the magnet for ferrous metal accumulation. Just wait for the oil to finish draining.
I would do that on the second oil change and then forget about it. I agree it's more of a gimmick than a feature.
Your experience with UPR mirrors mine. After sales support on my leaking catch cans was terrible.

Thats weird. I have one on my 04 ranger

You would think the 20 ecoboost and the 23 ecoboosts would have the same threads for the oil drain bolt. My son has one of those on his focus st 2.0. Its the same pan as my 18 mazda3, if i remember right
