I know a Ford rep usually monitors this site, so I am asking why would the a/c come on when the wipers are deployed. This truck is extremely frustrating. Yesterday, when turning right a warning sound went off. There was no traffic around and of course it hasn't done it again. Anyone having similar issues?

Might do that to keep windshield clear in the rain when humidity is 100% just like the head lights come on too when wipers are working. In the past, even with AC off, it would kick in as soon as Defrost is selected, regardless of temperature (down to 25F only), which was to aid for the same reason. Weird things happened to me on a 2 hour trip couple days ago, when i felt cold air through the vent for a short while and then went back to normal. Had it set at 72 F with AC off and not in Defrost mode, just vent/floor and wasn't raining either. Done that 3-4 times....haven't figured that one out yet, but maybe somebody around here knows..

Thanks, my defrost wasn't on but like you say, maybe it does it automatically.

This is a normal function and is considered a Safety feature. Basically if you have the wipers on, its 100% humidity and therefore the Defrost turns on (with AC) to remove moisture from the air, and keep the windshield clear. Headlights coming on with wipers is also considered a safety feature as you would be under cloud cover. Both of these have been standard in heavy trucks (Semi's) for a few years now, it was only a matter of time before the NTSB or DOT required it in passenger vehicles as well.

That's good to know and is an actual law here 'Lights on when wipers are on'.
Too many times I see people barreling down the highway at 60+ in the rain without their lights on, even though the wipers are slapping away.

The alarm is probably the front sensors, mine has started to do that recently also. My local dealers are useless so I’m trying to find a better one to take it to for recall and a few issues.

I've heard occasional dings and dongs while driving for no apparent reason too. Doesn't happen often, but when it does I look at the cluster and there's nothing to indicate what that was for. Strange. Haven't noticed anything with the wipers yet because in TX we're still hot so the AC is on all the time regardless!

I know sometimes on humid mornings with the front windshield fogged up, the forward collision warning disable icon will come on for a hot second with a chime and go out almost immediately. Took me a couple times before I caught it and thought I had just random chime noises also.

It shows on the center display not the gauge cluster.

check out if you left your turn light on for a while....I was going nuts to understand why that ding dong...then I realised ranger does not like you keep the turning light on for more than 2-3min....which in my side of the world is something you have to do when on the highway and on the fast lane..

No, it was not on as it turned off automatically upon completing the turn. But the information is good to know. Thanks

I’ve kinda just convinced myself if you turn the wheel far enough the sensors see the tires sticking out and think it’s an obstruction lol. Not sure if that’s actually what’s happening but it happens on my moms explorer as well as my ranger raptor
