Beaded Wheels (Raptor OEM upgrade) - can they not be changed out at most tire places?

The $1500 upgraded wheels that are beaded. My understanding is they’re a beauty ring. Can local tire chains like tire kingdom not handle this? What type of chain have you found can? Is the issue only during (1) new tires or (2) rotations too?

NOTE - I am talking about the 'beauty ring'

They can be serviced like a normal wheel. The outer bead seats on a wheel lip behind the beauty ring. The trim rings shouldn’t have to be removed to mount a tire. Rotations are normal

They can be used as a true bead lock if you purchase optional bead lock rings from Ford parts suppliers, and mount the tires accordingly.

Cons: They are heavy, and the valve stem location is quite deep and a pain to access. Some people have put extenders on them. I keep an extender in my console for filling.

Stupid question but why does the heavy matter? Do you wish you’d gotten the non bead capable wheels? The valve stem as in the one you use to fill up tire?

I would have preferred the standard wheels. The truck I ordered and ultimately gave up on due to months of QC hold was with the standard wheels. Found one in my backup color choice on a lot for MSRP out of state that had the options I wanted, but also included the graphics package and the upgraded wheels. I’ll never use these as true bead locks and they will be my winter setup. I prefer lighter wheels for the performance benefits.

Yes the schrader valve stem for inflating/deflating is in a deep pocket and tough to remove cap (not a lot of room for fingers), or attach a typical service station hose attachment. I grabbed a set of extenders the day I drove it home from the dealer out of state so I could correct the overinflated tires from shipping.

Unsprung weight affects performance a lot. Heavier wheels are noticeable. But if you need beadlocks for offroading, you need beadlocks.

Otherwise, lighter is always better.

100% on both of these. I took a wheel off and about killed myself lifting it back on. I wasn’t sure if it was the wheel or tire, but the combo is damn heavy!

I traded my beadlock capable wheels, tires and all to a RR owner from SATX. Straight up trade for his standard wheels. A good deal for both of us. He loves the beadlock wheels, and I absolutely like the standard wheels.

My RR came with the beadlocks as stock order by the dealer. I would not have paid $$ for them had I ordered the truck

Would I notice the performance in day to day daily driving?

The RR drives great with them. If you like the look or may use them as beadlocks go for it! You don’t know what you’re missing unless you drive with lighter wheels/less unsprung mass to compare.

In general, less unsprung mass improves acceleration and braking but not going to be a huge difference in normal daily driving.

ive switched to the ATI beadlocks for offroading as the ford dealer here in UAE wanted an absolute fortune for the official ford beadlock.

Think these look alright though 🙃

Heres a quick link to a video of them in action offroad

i noticed a difference when i first put the beadlocks on. definately more sluggish off the line....

but switch to sport mode and you barely notice it.

my rides are almost all for offroading though so will take the performance hit for the beadlock safety
