I have the temp set all the way to down to cool, but I'd expect that with the AC off, it wouldn't get any cooler than ambient (today was 85), like every other car I've ever owned. Instead it feels cool enough like the AC is on. If I switch AC on and wait, I can't feel any difference in temp, switch it back off again, it stays the same. No difference when recirc is on/off either. Am I missing something here?

it will run the compressor if you set vents to windshield regardless of the a/c button setting.

this has been stanard for toyota since my 5th gen 4R (2014 at least)

I'm having the same issue; ac seems to be running when not turned on. The air is NOT directed to the windshield as Nodak suggested. I've noticed that the button on the left side of the temperature control knob defaults to "on" (green light). The owner's manual calls that the "S-flow switch", but no further description that I can find. What is it? I haven't tested to see if that shuts off the cool air.

I've also noticed this. The air seems the same temp with the AC light on or off. I also wish it would default to the last setting when the car was turned off.

Does anyone else feel like the AC is just not cold enough? We've had some pretty hot days down here in so cal since I picked up the car a few days ago, but it seems like the AC system just can't cool the car down no matter the temperature setting.

Following. I’ve had the same exact experience.

In my experience the vents just aren’t shaped right to direct flow properly and the AC takes a while to get cold but it does get cold. The settings that work for me best are recirculation, AC ON, set to about 66-67 F, and take out of Eco mode. Seems to get colder faster in Normal drive mode and seems to also like being moving which is a standard thing in most vehicles it’s just less stress when running it. Maybe a service bulletin will come out eventually and they may need a recharge or something, I wonder if LC/GX guys have the same problems?

PS: if you find it shuts AC off each time you turn the car back on go to settings>vehicle settings>climate and the toggle there set to OFF, I think it read “AC memory” or something like that

The "S-flow switch" is handy in that it diverts all the air to the front cabin if nobody is in the back seat. It automatically comes on if it detects nobody in the back seat or you can manually turn it off or off.

does s-flow still direct air to the front windshield? doesnt say in the manual.

personally i manual adjust the flow. the only time the compressor kicks in is when i set it to defrost only or defrost/feet.

not only does it feel like my AC is on at all times, even with the AC switch off and the vents set to floor only, but I also get the water drips out of the bottom of the truck like the AC is creating condensation during operation, even though it's off

Down south we run AC 24/7 365 days a year.

AC is easy to control. Just don’t use auto.

Same with mine. Yesterday it was 80 degrees outside and I had the temp set all the way down to 62 and could feel no difference inside.

Today with outside temperature around 85, using an infrared thermometer I checked the air temp coming out of the vents; 49.9 degrees with the AC OFF for the first few miles. After the cabin temp came down to approx. where I had it set (68), air temp coming out of the vents rose, and I had to finally turn on the AC. It's weird, but at least the AC works.

Down here in the south this foolishness isn't going to work. You want Max A/C all over the cabin. If you're driving a Suburban with nobody else in the truck, turning on just the front A/C and blowing cold air in your face isn't going to help the fires of hell right behind you. We're putting the front and rear A/C on Max whether somebody is back there or not.

There's an off button?
