I just installed the ARB Twin Air Compressor in the engine bay of my TRD Off- Road Premium iForce MAX Hybrid, including the ARB Manifold Kit and ARB Universal Hose Coupler.
In order to make everything fit, I used this compressor mounting bracket from Bullet Proof Fabricating, which allows you to relocate the ECU modules and free up space.
The installation process was fairly straightforward and I just followed the step-by-step instructions on the BPF website, and the compressor install guides from ARB. It took about 2.5 hours from start to finish, including gathering up the required tools, removing the ECU bracket, mounting all the hardware, installing the new bracket, and reconnecting and testing everything.
Here are a few more photos to help you visualize the before and after.
This is how it looked when I started (stock 4Runner configuration)
I disconnected the battery and removed the ECU modules, which opened up a much bigger space.
Following the instructions from Bullet Proof Fabricating (a Canadian company BTW) I mounted the compressor and ECU onto their bracket.
Once I dropped it in and mounted it with the original factory bolts, it looked like this:
Next, I configured and mounted the ARB Manifold Kit on the ear off the left side of the BPF bracket:
Here are a few more looks at the install:
Huge shout out to Phil Gragg at Offroad Toy Outfitters in Vancouver, WA for helping me source the parts, and giving me the confidence to undertake this one on my own. He's a great guy and a great resource for the 4Runner community!
