Now you have me confused. You say you wouldn't want the "the weight of a larger winch in the front" but I thought it wasn't mounted in the front at all but laid on the ground and allowed to pull itself up as the winch rope tightens.

The only mount I saw was the designed for the rear and I wouldn't think an extra 43 pounds in the rear would make much difference, especially since it was designed to be portable and temporary.

You're correct.

I was contrasting this setup's weight with a bumper-mounted larger winch, like the 8k or 10k winches that would meet traditional winch ratings for a truck this size. I don't want any weight added to the front.
