I am seeing the same thing on my TRD ORP hybrid. The four AUX port blanks actually have cable connectors going into them, and when I replace the blanks with some OEM switches from CaliRaised, they get power and seem to be working. When I toggle the switches, the corresponding blue LED (separate from the backlighting) turns on and off as you would expect.

I haven't looked for the pigtail connectors yet, but this seems very encouraging... Hoping others can do some further digging and we can find a way to wire into these AUX ports — either from the pigtail connectors, or barring that, from the relay/fuse box.

I circled the four AUX port cables in the last photo so you can clearly see the color-coding of the wires, which may be useful in tracing them downstream.

AUX 1 = RED, PURPLE, [BLANK], BROWN, YELLOW, PINK (Black Connector)
AUX 2 = RED, LIGHT BLUE, [BLANK], BROWN, YELLOW, PINK (Blue Connector)
AUX 3 = RED, GREEN, [BLANK], BROWN, YELLOW, PINK (White Connector)
AUX 4 = RED, BLACK, [BLANK], BROWN, YELLOW, PINK. (Gray Connector)

Looks really promising!
Holy thats awesome. Hopefully when I get mines I will be able to contribute further to this conversation. Kinda weird that they took off the AUX package from the builder.

Good that they have power at least I can do some dummy switches! I checked mine and my fuse box has an open spot where the relays ought to be for AUX 1-3 and no pigtail behind the washer fluid neck, but the manual says the wiring can be purchased so maybe within the year Toyota will open that up to us

Late to the party here, but to add context to the post;

1: Prewired Aux is a factory installed option.
2: It looks like all ORP's are pre-wired to the switch blanks, but NONE of the extra wiring is present.
3: From what I gathered, the dash harness is the same regardless whether the aux option was factory installed, but the engine room harness is not, so none of the wiring underhood or through the chassis is present, including the AUX connectors and the fuse/relay box wiring.
This means that somewhere, there's a subharness or breakout from a harness that's already present and with a little work, it may be possible to build a supplemental harness with a separate relay and fuse box.

What people are indicating to in the pictures is NOT the AUX connectors. If I'm correct, those are just common chassis grounds that come together through the connector.

Ironically, on our Hybrid Tacoma at work, it was NOT optioned for prewired AUX switches but ALL of the wiring is there including the fuse box wiring, and all AUX connectors. The only thing it needs is relays added to the fuse box and buttons added to the dash. I looked an identical year/trim non-Hybrid Tacoma and found none of this.

I still feel cautiously optimistic that the wiring is there and you'd just need to install relays and attach pigtails to established connection points on the wiring harness of the 4Runner.

For example, this is what an AUX port pigtail connector looks like for the 4th Gen Tacoma:

I found a similar looking unused connector (which appears to be designed for high gauge wiring) in the cargo area inside the passenger-side wheel well:

I'd like to get more information from 4Runner owners who have factory pre-wired AUX ports:

  • Can you post pictures of the pigtails you received (including Toyota part #'s)?
  • Did you receive any documentation about how to locate the connection points?
    • If so, can you post a PDF or scan/share a copy of that documentation?
  • If you've installed them, can you describe and/or post pictures of each location?

That second picture, is that inside the front or rear? I don't think that's what we're looking for, unfortunately, but I'd like to investigate more.

Every AUX connector I've seen on the Tacoma is a male connector with a blank plugged into it, and that's the opposite. The Toyota accessory harnesses just simply wouldn't work with it.

PS: If you open your fuse box underhood, you can see quite quickly whether it is/isn't prewired for relays and fuses. At least in my case, it isn't. maybe I can snag a quick picture.

(See this thread for more information) Picture below is what the factory AUX connector actually looks like.

Here's what the inside of the fuse box looks like. The red circles are over the AUX circuit relays, blue circles are over AUX circuit fuses. All are missing the wiring in the fuse box.

I believe you need to order the relays and trays above. They will wire to the bundle of wires (you will need to follow the color code) I have decided to add the Garmin 6 Gang switch relay that adds the app to CarPlay. No need to mess with the wires, factory switches and it is Bluetooth, so no firewall breech. I feel this will be much cleaner

That’s what I’m thinking too, not worth messing with the fuse box on these, I’ll end up running a single M8 wire into a Auxbeam panel into mine, that method has worked for the LC250 guys

How are you planning on adding wiring to the fuse box? You're gonna need a LOT more than just relays and fuses.
I haven’t dug into this at all (where can we source wiring diagrams?) and was hoping the relays / fuses comment above was the bridge between what’s prewired and fuse box already. I might try to see if I can talk with the dealer/parts dept when I pick up the D pillar lights. I run the garmin power switch in a different vehicle and is great - but I want to try to use the factory switches in this one so motivated to figure it out.

Spoke with the dealer today and (as I suspect many already know) all they could show me was the whole engine loom ($2500) but it was so coarse grained that it was almost useless, that’s all they had and no actual wiring diagrams just says “wire” or something similar .
