To be fair remote start is offered on the key fob, but I get your point. You sound surprised that it's by subscription. When all of your vehicle services including remote start are by subscription which could just be a button on the key fob. Toyota is trying hard to strip every dollar from your hands.
At least they offer a short-term subscription to the online database (2 days for $25, or $95 for a month) rather than only a $505 annual subscription. I bet there will come a time when I pay for the 2-day subscription, but given how slow Toyota is with every form of documentation, I have to wonder how incomplete their database for the 2025 4runner probably is, at the present time anyway.Damn, I'm getting old. They want you to pay for a subscription instead of buying a book once. #facepalm
