Well, it took a few attempts to get the system calibrated. I have a small boat/trailer (15 feet) but needed a very, very large parking lot to execute the calibration steps.)

Anyways, after getting the Trailer Backup Assist calibrated, I think it's pretty slick. I am looking forward to using it the next time I launch my boat.

I think it's called performance anxiety, but when I get to the ramp, if there are people waiting to take out or more putting in show up just as I do, I find it more difficult to back my trailer down the ramp as opposed to when there is nobody there. It's just so much easier if nobody is watching. LOL.

Well, I will let you know how it goes after my next boat outing. Anybody else out there impressed with that particular technology?

I had my first experience backing up my 16ft boat on ramp. I had to pull forward about 8 times with people waiting. It’s been years since I launch a boat. I found I was relying to much on cameras. The straight back up assist is great once you get it straight to back up. I’ll eventually get it but will take some time. Just be patient and don’t get stressed. Most boaters will understand. Waiting for tour update.

I found it very difficult to backup straight using the rear camera. I do much better when I put my right arm over the top of the passenger seat and swinging my head over my right shoulder and looking out the rear window. That was even difficult before I put the guide on posts on the trailer for when backing the empty trailer down the ramp to recover the boat.

Talk about performance anxiety when people are watching. It'similar to trying to be intimate with my girlfriend and her husband comes home early. I just can't perform with those extra set of eyes watching.

The straight path assist is fantastic. just get the trailer pointed in the direction you want it to go, hit the button, take your hands off the wheel, and watch it do it's thing. Whether it's a camper and a back-in camp site that you have pull past and then back into on an angle, or a boat going straight down a boat launch, it's a fantastic feature.
