I see that 32” tire upgrade is possible- how about offering consumers to update through mobile OTA updates in phone app? That would give users the flexibility to install tires of choice. If speedo/odometer is GPS- disregard, even better!

Please, Slate, don’t add a GPS to the vehicle. I would like mine as simple as I can get and especially without built-in radio, communication communications devices that are required for operation.

Fair point, I was thinking in terms of a car I had that I installed a simple standalone GPS Speedo in. It was accurate, cheap and required no calibration (didn’t require different calibration with changes in tire size / gear ratio). I’m with you and simplest solution possible, but curious how they will accommodate changes in tire size on a vehicle where customization is encouraged.

Your phone has a GPS that works without cell service. Just grab a free Speedo app. And I suspect a GPS speedo is cheaper to build these days than a mechanical one.

the app should have: - I have no basis for this assumption though

tire size
which battery is installed
what configuration - Topper, fastback, None
they could have an algorithm in the app that would help determine battery life as well as battery health

This is what I was getting at. If we change out tires (or the parameters you mentioned), I want the factory speedo and range estimates to remain accurate. Similar to what Forscan is capable of with Ford vehicles.
