Ok,
Thought I would start a post on here about this. Hopefully what I find out will help others wanting to do the same thing.
I want a USB plus up by rear view mirror to plug my radiator detector into for a cleaner look.
So I ordered a kit from Dongar. The best I can tell it is the (5 pin type F) for select fords. So I ordered one last night. Said it will be here Wednesday.
I will keep everyone post on if it works and maybe a little how to.

Looking forward to it! I'll have to check for a wiring diagram. I've always used a blendmount with a mirror tap and it looks like their website has a mount and tap. I want to run a radar detector and dash cam like I have in the V. but it's not looking like there's enough real estate on the mirror to mount both. The dash cam will likely have to be ran mounted on the glass.

Correct on the room. So this is what I have purchased in advance of getting the truck. But I was assuming it had a USB that I was going to use for radar. And I am going to hard wire the camera into the fuse panel.

I have a 2019 Ranger Lariat. Mine from Dongar was the 3 pin type B. I removed the plastic covers in front of and behind the mirror. Be careful not to break the tabs, I waited till the truck got real hot than removed them. Used a small round file to make an exit for the wire down the windshield to the camera. Dongar great customer service. I put one in my 2022 F150 and my wife's 2020 Pacifica. All work great.

I like the VIOFO A229 PRO 2CH. Have it now and it works great. Will be transferring it into my Lariat.

Was it a 5 pin adapter or a 3 pin?

On the 5th gen ranger they use the 3 pin. I still have mine and haven't yet checked to see if it will work for the 6th gen.

Did the 5 pin work for you? I purchased a 3 pin (recommended by fellow ranger owner). After looking at all the connections, I'm not sure which one is correct. Do you mind helping a girl out? Thanks in advance.

No it did not. So I did a hot tap for mirror and now truck has been in and out of shop for two months because the parking brake fault alarm will not stop going off. They blamed my radar detection for it. So removed it from truck two months ago. So now they’re trying to blame me for other things and won’t fix it for me. The alarm is bonging the whole time you drive it. It drives you insane. Lemon law is what I think I’m going for because I can’t have a truck for 5 years making that noise. I would leave everything alone unless ford does it for you.

Good luck on trying to lemon law it, if you cant prove for a fact your modification didnt cause it, youll have some issues doing it.

Yes but the lemon law does not cover user damage. You cant enact the lemon law without it actually being a manufacturing defect.

It varies by state, but you have to report it several times to the dealer and they must have a reasonable amount of time and attempts to fix it. In my state that is 4 times. if the dealer is saying you caused it, you cant just enact the lemon law willy nilly. I am not accusing you have damaging the truck, but if Ford wont accept it is an actual defect, you cant enact it.

In Maryland if it’s not fix after one attempt and it would not pass inspection because of the problem you can do a lemon law. It would not pass inspections with dash lights flashing about brakes.
