My current android phone is too old to run Android Auto so I am forced to use blue tooth and the base(unpaid) navigation in my 2024 Ranger. It took a bit of playing around to get it right so I wanted to just post what I found.
If I connect my phone to the truck with blue tooth, start Waze, and use the orange button with the music symbol to turn ON the blue tooth audio I can hear the map directions. So I turn the audio on with the orange button (music symbol) and then switch to navigation with the blue button in the middle. But I can't switch to radio and still hear the map directions. I can only switch to navigation with the blue button in the middle. So I can listen to the radio till I get close and then hit the orange button (music symbol) to silence the radio and listen to the directions. Once I get the new phone I will use Android Auto.
