Thanks. I was thinking of doing the same thing and was wondering if I was going to run into the same issues. Congrats on the new ride...

Before I bought my 1997 Toyota Limited 4Runner I had a 1984 Jeep Wagoneer. The car was always in the shop. The motor mounts broke 4 times with mostly city driving. Only used the 4 Wheel drive to drive up to do some skiing. The car leaked a ton of oil. My Toyota 4Runner which I bought new is still my daily driver was very reliable. I had to rebuild the engine around 240,000 miles because of a head gasket leak. Consumer Reports rank Jeep and Land Rover as the least reliable cars out there. My car has been sitting at the Long Beach port for 3 weeks now. Good thing I did not sell my 1997 4Runner. I just want my new 4Runner Limited. Probably it will be my last new car to buy.Ouch... that's quite the list. I went through a local Toyota dealer and didn't want the hybrid since I the city MPG difference wasn't worth the extra money to us. While they couldn't guarantee price, the deposit I put down was fully refundable, so if price changes or something, I can back out.
I'm coming from a 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo that still works so I'm not in a crazy hurry. Though the electronic issues are getting annoying. According to the dealer there's "interference" on the key fob wavelength, so it often kills the engine about 3 seconds after ignition. You have to then turn the entire car off before trying again. When it's taking 5-6 times to start, I start to get more in a hurry to get the 4runner ahaha
Waiting for my 4Runner build to complete and ship to my dealer. I checked the status today, estimated delivery dates were no longer available. I sent a text to my dealer asking if he had insight to the status. He notified me the vehicle is on "quality hold".
Does anyone have insight to what this status implies?
My car has been at the Long Beach, CA port for almost 3-4 weeks now. I live in Los Angeles and my Toyota dealer told me. The issue is the front air spoiler's/dam were falling off the cars and a newer style bolt was being shipped from Japan and that there are 280 cars at the Toyota Long Beach receiving facility that they have to repair. That is what he told me. Not much I can do. I will be taking off that air dam anyway when I get my car. It is a bad design for this kind of car.
I do hear a lot of folks complaining about squeaking brakes on the Gen 6 forums. Wonder if the pads need changing too. I was also looking at the Audi's Q5's too but I had been so happy with my 1997 4Runner that I have had now for 28 years and I do like the Gen 6 design. So I will just wait it out like many other folks.

Wow, with that delay I would receive delivery in August, maybe September. I wonder when 2026 models will hit the lots. I can wait another few months if this is the case.I Decided to cancel my order, the lack of communication is ridiculous. My dealer reached out to me and said supposedly the regional distributor for the northeast contacted him and said “no firm eta yet but should be a simple inspection, they are working on what that is now and should get them started in the next in the next 2-4 weeks”. Then proceeded to tell me all the vehicles that were already at the port the day the hold was implemented (5/15/25) would be done first. Then all the cars that have arrived since. So in other words in 2-4 the will start doing the inspections. So i would be looking at something like another 2 months min to see my vehicle with no information on what the problem was. Just not worth it at this point. Ill wait until they figure out all there kinks on the new gen in a year or two. Pulled the trigger on a new gx550.
I had one dealer tell me technically they will refund if they can’t find a car within 2 months, besides that I would have to wait, I told them no thanks.Never do business with with any dealer that says deposit is non refundable
Was it an Overtrail? No, found one in stock luckily. They are hard to find right now as well
That wisdom applies to most deposits, not only dealers.Never do business with with any dealer that says deposit is non refundable
I'm at a different port (Jacksonville) But same thing, no update. I do have a "predicted" date though, 6/10, I was supposed to get it 5/20. I don;t know if it's just my dealer not wanting me to bother him, or if it's good, but fingers crossed.Spoke with my salesman, & no updates as of this morning, for mine that was put on hold on the 15th. Fortunately, through the port & at the Princeton Depot (Toyota Assembly Plant) in Indiana.
5/31?? Like tomorrow? Lucky man!I just checked this morning and mine went from 6/18 to 5/31. Was initially 5/23, I haven’t heard from the dealership yet, so we will see.
Did your date disappear before it went to 6/18?I just checked this morning and mine went from 6/18 to 5/31. Was initially 5/23, I haven’t heard from the dealership yet, so we will see.
I can’t honestly say, I didn’t have the spreadsheet prior to being told by the dealership that it was delayed to 6/18. I just knew it was at the port, but being held.Did your date disappear before it went to 6/18?
You pretty much half to go through the regional manager to get any useful information.I spoke with my salesman last night. He’s clueless - thought the hold was due to tariffs, wasn’t even aware of the air dam issue, didn’t know people were removing air dams when taking ownership, etc. So, he certainly doesn’t know about any release dates. Someone shared they always knew more than the salesmen for any vehicle they’ve ever purchased, and that’s definitely the case here.
