Power Steps - Ranger RAPTOR, What works, what doesn't

I am going to remove the fixed step on my new 2025 Ranger Raptor and replace with a power step. My wife has bad hips and needs a lower step in height. Looked at some nerf bars, etc., but not enough drop and / or too ugly.

After having a bunch of research, this is what I think I know:

1. AMP Research will not work on the Raptor, nor do they anticipate modifying their Ranger power steps to work (way to go Amp - ignoring the flagship product!). Reportedly has to do with an additional module that the Raptor has and they can't be bothered to figure it out.

2. Westin and Go Rhino have steps that will work. Triggered off magnets mounted in door frames that deploys and retracts steps. Not as clean a setup, but at least they showed up, unlike the company above.

3. Aries and several others have steps that also will work. I ruled them out based on appearnences.

I am going with the Westin, as the installer uses a bunch of their fixed steps. Power steps are somewhat new for Westin, but the dealer is confident they can do it.

Wanted to post this out there as there has been a lot of questions about power steps and some mixed messaging.

I installed a set of Rough Country e-boards. A large draw was the fact they have 4 motors vice two. Living in an area with ice, snow and mud, 4 motors seemed like a smart move. In the one year they have been on, they have worked perfectly. I also like the magnets vice piggy backing on to the OBD port. They come with a by-pass switch which will lock the steps in. I also found it easier to install the wiring under the carpet in the rear seat area vice the front, but needed to extend the positive and negative connections about a foot. The by-pass switch was then mounted down low on the "B" pillar.

Since your wife has hip issues, I also believe these e-boards open lower than others, but you'll want to check.

Be advised before taking off the existing steps you will need to protect the rear fenders with something. The front tires pick up rocks which will significantly chip the fenders and the plastic extenders. I learned the hard way. If you use a clear wrap go up the fender as high as the bottom of the gas filler cap.

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard the stone chips are an issue, but one picture is worth a thousand words. I am looking at ppf options for the affected areas.

Thanks for the feedback. AMP Research has not been forthcoming with any options for the Ranger Raptor.

Update - I went with Westcott e power boards. Had my local dealer do the install and it is very clean and works extremely well. Wish they dropped about 2" more than they do. Currently has 14" step height and my wife would be better served at 12". Likely will add ppf on parts to protect against stone chips

I don’t know why the amp steps don't fit because someone on here did them a year ago on a raptor. Looks like they’re about 12” from the ground also.

Here's my E Board Saga:
Ordered the Go Rhino Volt Steps. Got them on sale from a Real Truck local dealer. Came in, brought the truck to the installer (same place I bought them from), left the truck with them was home for an hour. They won't fit, they couldn't square up the brackets.

More forum research.

Ordered the AMP Research E Boards off Amazon (they had them in stock, nobody else did). Got the boards Lickety-split from Amazon. Opened the box, directions were online, scanned the QR code, directions say for 2024-2025 Ranger but NOT THE RAPTOR! Call AMP Research and they confirmed saying, Raptor electronics differ from all other Gen 6 Rangers. Amazon picked up the Boards the next day and refunded my money.

Westin said their boards were out of stock, but I found e-Trailer said they had them so I called and ordered a set. The nice Lady said they would ship directly from the mfg. I informed her that Westin said they were out of stock. She asked me to hold while she called Westin to see when they would be back in stock (I couldn't get Westin to let me speak to a Human) and to as specifically if they fit a Raptor. She had me on hold for a long time but came back and said 2 to 4 weeks until shipping and they definitely fit a Ranger Raptor.

In the meantime eTrailer sent me a list of installers near me and the one closest to me called me the next day. WOW! I explained the boards were back ordered, and he asked that I call back when they arrived. They arrived last week (3.5 weeks after ordered) and they were installed today.

They look great, work great and were worth the wait.
