Well, it wasn't today, it was a little over a week ago, but I took my nearly stock XLT FX4 to the Maze District of Canyonlands and managed to drive it safely out to Cleopatra's Chair. This is rated 5 on OnX, the hardest trail I've done. It required very careful line selection and tire placement...
I don't understand Consumer Reports (and I subscribe). If you look at their overall ratings of current model year, the Ranger is 2nd to last, with only the Gladiator below it. Now that includes other factors in addition to reliability, but here are the current reliability ratings:

I don't think I saw any change (Truxedo Sentry hard roll up tonneau). I've since added the Ford Performance Tune, which, as expected, reduced my MPG a bit.
They’re great trucks. I tested one a while back and have been very tempted to go ahead and upgrade. But for now I don’t feel like spending the dough.

I’ve been wondering about trying some 4/10 rated trails. Hardest I’ve done yet is 3 in my stock FX4 (though I’ve changed tires).
