No details posted. Just a 2025 2.7 XLT 4x4, King Adjustable shock front and back with a 2.5 lift which was just added, no pictures yet. 1 inch lift in the back and 285x70x17 MT tires. That's about it nothing special.
Same with me, I'm not looking to race it but the added power and shifting of a tune does make a difference when towing. I also pull a RV and the tunning definitely makes a difference when towing. I did a tune on my 2.3 and that made a world of a difference when towing. We are leaving in 3 weeks...
Man, those charge pipes look small to me, I know the 2.7 has small turbos so I guess they are fine.
I wish the 2.7 had turbo noise, my 2.3 is noticeable my 2.7, nothing.
@duhtroll you planning on doing any other mods to the motor? I'm still waiting for someone (other than Ford) to do a tune. I...
Yes I sure did, I ordered the OEM 4/7 off of eBay. I then removed the plastic cover on the bumper and then used a Dremel to cut the opening. On the back side of the plastic piece there is a ridge for the 4/7, I cut on the inside of that, I had to cut twice because I wanted it to be clean. You...
I do a lot of off-road trails and you will drag the pipes coming out of the rear, coming out the side is the way to go. I will say that coming out the back looks way cool and sounds good also but tearing up the exhaust is not worth it.
I'm thinking about doing the same on the exhaust, only thing is I don't like the drone noise. My trips are usually 4500 miles, and the noise gets to me after a while. I wonder if wrapping the muffler helps at all with the drone nose?
Truck looks great by the way, I really like the color. I'm...
So the bumper itself has the punch out already there, but the plastic does not?
I know the pinch a penny thing, that is why I did the hitch setup myself. I'm a cheap one so I get that for sure. If I'm financing a truck everything I can do to keep from paying for that over many years is how I...
I did check all the wires with a voltmeter. The red wire is for reverse which I also checked with my meter. I was not sure what wire was which, so I had to check each one. I got it right the first time thank goodness.
You might be right about the Curt wires not being pinned. I have an XLT so...
That's right I cut the plug from the 4 pin and took it apart I pinned those into the Curt plug I'm going to butt connect the red wire once I get the 4/7. I was just being lazy, I will connect it once I install the 4/7, I ordered it from ebay so thanks again for that.
Also, I think I said to...
Great setup and the 2.3 will be fun to tow with. My 2019 with a tune towing my camper in the mountains was a blast specially going up grade. The 2.3 low RPM torque has a sweet spot and pulls really well.
I've been chatting with another user and he confirmed the Ford OEM 4/7 will connect to the Curt harness. This is really good news and will allow for the 4 pin to work also. I'm waiting on the part number he has and I will order it and then place it in the rear bumper. It should look like it came...
Pez
I had to go look under my truck to remember what I did. I forgot, brain is getting old.
To make this work you won't be able to use the 4 pin OEM connector until you install the Ford OEM 4/7. Once you install the OEM 4/7 the 4 pin connector will work. I don't use the 4 pin so it is not...
I did leave a comment on etrailer web site, it might have been me. I kept my 4 pin also it's still in place. If you use the Curt 7 pin you still keep the 4 pin also. All I did was take apart the Curt 7 Pin and add those wires into the OEM plug. If you need help let me know.
I have not installed the 4/7 pin Ford OEM connector yet. I'm still using the Curt 7 pin as of now. My next big haul will be in May so I will have to have it installed by then. I almost ripped the Curt 7 pin off on a trail because it hangs so low. I'm hoping to have the 4/7 by March "I hope".
I did not get the Ford 4/7 connector yet, we leave Thursday for our long-haul trip. Once I'm back home I'll order it and install it. From what I've been reading the Ford plug will connect to the Curt plug.
That is really crazy to me specially when the truck has a towing weight of 7500Lbs. I would not have thought Ford would leave any of their trucks without the wires in place. It still can tow 7500Lbs.
