I just installed mine, on one side I had to remove the rails and install the clamps first and the reinstalled and everything was kosher. If one clamp is off it will twist the entire rail and cause it not to latch.

I also have distortion in the windshield when looking across it, mine is ok when you look straight out. My brother, who worked in a Glass fabrication shop, thinks it was tempered incorrectly. I was going to raise a concern but now I think I will and also check the windshield before they install it.
