i was really hoping for a 2.3 Powerboost with specs close to the interceptor hybrid- 33hp, 63lbft added to the 2.3EB. A plug-in hybrid would be interesting though, especially with the Explorer plug-in specs 80hp, 240lbft of torque. the Stellantis 4xe has solid numbers in the Grand Cherokee.
Noteworthy from the MSN article is that gasoline market Amaroks will get a 2.3L engine w/ 298hp. I don't believe VW has such an engine, so it's (very most probably) the Ford powertrain (looks like the diesels are from VW). The 298hp rating is promising, even if it's a premium fuel rating (like...
From what I understand, the longer WB is from moving the front axle (centerline) forward. This MAY have allowed the powertrain to move up a little, foot-wells to be reshaped etc. A less-bulky seat back could definitely shave a precious inch or so.
I don't see any way that the US truck has...
That in-bed power outlet is very interesting, too. If Ford offers a 30A 120V plug for a camper connection, I'm sold.
Slightly off-topic: are there interior dimensions available for the new overseas truck yet? Is the cab a carry-over, or did they manage to bake in a few extra inches of legroom?
So funny thing about the F33 engine- it was engineered specifically to be built along side the 1VD- it's a 90deg block with the same bore/stroke as the VD. heads and block construction are completely different.
That's what I was wondering about- I knew the current RR used a Watts linkage. I didn't know that had been pronounced for the new model. The Bronco Raptor uses the same 5-link arrangement as other Broncos, So I had thought it plausible (likely) that the RR would simply use the same thing.
I'm...
Seems like Toyota should get on the bus already- they could build the Tundra with a LC300 IP and diesel... might not have Built-in-Tahara cache, but would be loads cheaper. Or they could just sell this- as a Land Cruiser Dual Cab.
Do we know that the new Raptor gets a Watts linkage? I would expect it to share suspension layout with the Bronco- for that matter, I would expect short-bed US Rangers to use a coil rear suspension.
Apples to apples, the F150 is only about 260lb heavier than the Ranger. The Raptor stuff is...
Much of it comes down to plant capacity and profit margin- there isn't very much costly hardware involved in a Termor Ranger. That makes for big, juicy margins. They may make the RR a volume limited halo model and milk the Tremor for all it's worth.
Valid point about the European tax scams. The 3.3 Hybrid was mentioned because its already in use in the Explorer Interceptor. If a V6 isn't a fundamental problem, this would reduce engineering cost.
Personally, I think the 2.3EB is a great candidate.
