I’m sorry I made a mistake in my reply. My wheels have a « minus » 12 offset not a positive. I edited my post above.
If you buy your wheel with the proper lug pattern you don’t need rings/adapters/spacers. If you tell me what look/stance you want (tires tight to the fender, sticking out a bit...
Interesting wheel choice. Can’t wait to see them installed.
If I had a do-over not sure I would’ve picked the Yakima HD ajustable rack. Not that it’s bad, just not what I was hoping it would be. Still cant find on the market a proper rack. Wish I had your skills to build my own!!
Great looking truck! Can’t wait to see your build progress. But even more excited to see your wheeling adventures alongside that Jeep!! A good Hubby vs Wifey trail-off? lol
Cool! Eager to see it, keep me posted.
This is in fact what I expected the “lowest setting” of the Yakima to look like. A rooftop tent is on the wish list but havent started overlanding yet, only have done off-roading day trips as of yet. I have however started doing kayaking and SUP boarding...
I hear ya! What rack did you end up getting?
In my case there was no perfect set-up available, only levels of compromise. Having a secure yet accessible “dry” bed was priority number one so my rack options then became extremely limited.
It was a VERY LONG wait! The Ranger specific accessory list came out in Canada at around the 18th of January. I made my list in the following days and sent it to my dealer. I received the rack and sidebars last week and the crossbars 2 days ago.
Note: Can’t say exactly when the order itself was...
A few comments and observations on this rack set-up (will comeback and update regularly as I use it):
I ordered it sight-unseen so there is some little disappointments. The main thing is the load rating drop when paired to the Ford/Retrax cover. Also I was under the impression that the...
Ok so lets get this out of the way right now: it’s not pretty by any measure!
But hopefully it’ll do the jobs I ask of it. Talking about the rack of course!
Fuel wheels are in and BFG mounted. Unfortunately cant put them on yet because of (1) weather and (2) probably need the extra lift of the Icon kit to fit properly.
Thanks! Really liking my truck so far.
If I have my info correct the rating is (for the complete rack): 500lbs “on road rating” if mounted straight to the bed and 300lbs “off-roading”.
If mounted to the Ford/Retrax cover then it drops to 300lbs “on road” and 185lbs “off-road”.
I wasn’t aware of...
Sorry for the late reply but hadn’t driven in a proper snow storm since I got it installed. Today I did and as far as I can tell snow coming in from the cover itself is a non issue. There is however a little snow coming in but it’s from gaps at the bottom of the tailgate (Ford design issue)...
I just started organizing them. So far I think they’re gonna be great. Left side is for recovery tools (tow strap, shackles, etc.) and right side is small tools and tie-downs for bed and rack.
Only gripes so far are (1) they don’t pull out far enough to completely clear the Retrax cover. So I...
Thanks! Yes can’t wait. Arriving in a few weeks it seems. And dealer was super cool, he “lent” me the RC level kit while I wait for the Icon lift. He’ll just flip it on a stock unit they’ll build for the showroom.
Ordered through my Ford dealer because I wanted my accessories to be covered under Ford (3yr/60k in Canada) and also eligible for low rate financing through Ford Credit.
And here’s a preview of next week. Had everything mounted and realised the cross-bars were missing. To our surprise a “rack” from Yakima doesn’t include crossbars (???). Had to take it off. Parts coming in on Tuesday. If you notice I ordered a tray from Rhino-Rack instead of a Yakima basket...
As you can see, especially from the pics of the bottom of the “sliders”, they’re almost the real deal, almost. Very sturdy, built for abuse and secure as can be for a body mounted piece (6 different bolts hold it in place).
