I have both and actually find the strap helps keeps the door closed when my wallets inside organizer. To open it the strap easily stretches and allows easy access to the compartment.

Mine didn’t have it either. I cut a piece of heavy duty sticky backed Velcro (the soft side) and stuck it to the back of the seat belt receiver up against the console. Works like a dream. Cheap, easy, fast, & done! Makes no noise either.
