Trailer weight is the LEAST important specification when looking at what your truck can tow. The most important ratings are tongue weight, your total payload (my 2.7 4x4 with a couple options is only 1388 total payload!), and trailer length vs your wheel base. Towing is the easy part - with the...
Hopefully last update on this one, received the truck back with the replacement transmission, and the knocking noise seems to be gone. The new transmission also definitely shifts a little smoother, originally when cold the truck would almost throw you forward with a loss of power on the 4-5...
I don't believe so, I know Ford tech hotline was involved and they wanted the flex plate, as well as both transmission oil pumps, removed and inspected before authorizing the transmission replacement, so fingers crossed they did their inspections thoroughly but the transmission tech at this...
It's currently still at the dealership, they are putting in an entire replacement transmission. Should be done sometime next week, I will confirm here whether it has fixed the issue.
I always give a turbo engine a minute or two to warm up - even in the summer, and a minute or two to cool down before shutting off, I am not too worried about the cost of the gas. All the manufacturers say they have eliminated issues with technology, but then they also say things like the oil in...
Lowering unsprung weight has a way bigger effect on things like performance and MPG than losing the same amount of weight above the springs, thats pretty common performance knowledge, at least I thought!
Yes I have taken delivery, the total payload will depend on your options, every option you add that has any sort of weight will take from your payload. I also have the trailer tow package, spray in bed liner, rear box steps, all these options add weight that take from payload capacity.
Aug 30 update
Torque converter has been replaced with no changes, dealer hasnt responded up to my follow up email, trying to keep everything in writing. Will call them next week or two and see how they want to proceed, going on a 2 week vacation so not enough time to get any more diag done until...
This sounds very much like what I am experiencing https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/2-7l-engine-tapping-knocking-noise-with-video.20409/
I just got it back from the shop for the first diagnostic visit today, and they are starting with a torque converter... I wouldnt be surprised if that...
July 11 update
Finally got it into the dealer, they are unsure of where it's coming from. It was loudest in their stethoscope on the transmission bell housing, so they are going to put in a new torque converter while basically admitting they are just guessing and throwing parts at it. After...
No model information but I looked up the M series. When towing people tend to hyperfocus on the LEAST important rating, your vehicle tow capacity. Other more important things are the tongue weight limit, and your payload. Looking at the 2326MBBH it lists a dry tongue weight of 530lbs. Add on...
Percentages can be deceiving. That .5% difference in efficiency doesn't mean it's letting in .5% more dirt, it's actually letting in twice as much dirt as the factory filter because of the differential. If the factory filter lets in 0.39 particles of dirt per 100, and the oiled filter lets in...
It's still making the noise, I won't be able to get it into the dealer for another week or two unfortunately. Re: The folks that mentioned fuel and injectors, its been on 93 octane since day one from various suppliers, hasn't had any effect changing brands. I am very familiar with the sound...
It does have a little dipstick, you need to pop the cap off, REMOVE THE DIPSTICK from the cap, and then use the loose dipstick to check oil level. 19MM. Make sure it's up to temp first.
Vehicle currently has 3,000kms, 2025 XLT w/ 2.7L
First noticed the tapping/ knocking sound in drive-throughs where the echo reflects, and now it can be heard pretty easily from outside the vehicle. Seems to be loudest when warm but not fully warm. This sounds like a worn out 350 with stuck...
The 2.7 is the only reason I went with the ranger, all the midsize trucks are making close to the same power but id rather channel that energy through six connecting rods instead of four, the whole package seems like quite the piece of engineering.
As far as the wet oil pump belt goes, I think...
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but you are supposed to remove the dipstick from the top plug to check your transmission fluid level, it's in the instructions as well as printed on the back of the stick I believe and I see yours is still in the cap during your check procedure. Your...
People are genuinely trying to help you if someone has proven you are wrong about a feature is it truly inconceivable that you might have misunderstood something and consider that instead of just telling the helping person to move on? Just because you were a sales manager doesn't mean you are a...
I wouldn't be worried about them taking the key code from a theft perspective, anyone in their service or parts department can look up that code with the VIN, they don't need that little label to get it. I provide key codes to customers and locksmiths all the time (after seeing proof of...
Hi all,
I have been looking at getting my first travel trailer to tow with the ranger. 2025 XLT, w/ advanced tow package, 2.7L 4x4. Out of all the brands available in my area, I have come up with two options. The floor plan that I really like the best and checks all my boxes is the Puma Ultra...
