I do believe going from the top is the best way. But in all honesty, itās really not difficult to remove the liner inside the wheel well and get the filter that way. I use a Quickjack to lift the truck which takes weight off the wheel and provides extra room to work.
I could also reach the filter from the top, but wanted to see how tight it was thru the wheel well. I lifted the truck and removed the liner which made the filter accessible. But all future changes will be from the top.
Your options are a 2.3 XLT Fx4 or 2.7 XLT Sport. Iād worry less about which engine to get and more about the options on each vehicle. The Fx4 will have locking rear differential for example. You really canāt go wrong with either engine, what are the options you want and which truck has them?

It does appear like the Husky mat has better coverage under the gas pedal, but I kinda like the Ford mats quality better. Also kinda like the āRangerā branding.
