Just installed 3/16 inch steel RCI skid plates on my RR. I have the engine skid, transmission skid, and the t-case skid. I weighed the parts I removed vs the new skids I installed and I am now 87lbs heavier overall. The t-case skid is 21.6 lbs heavier. The engine skid is 27.8 lbs heavier, and...
Did you get aluminum or steel? I ordered steel around the time you did and I just received notification that the last engine skid will arrive at my house tomorrow. It’s been a long wait and I wonder what the cause for delay was, but the other two skids I ordered are good quality so if this one...
Any updates on this? I ordered a full set of RCI skid plates for my RR. I got the 3/16 steel plates. Anyone get those? The engine skid is about 35lbs more than the aluminum version. Wondering if anyone has them and what their thoughts are on them.
I am not an engineer but the RCI frame mounted rock sliders have large mounting plates that attach to the frame and I think those plates would disperse the load over a larger area and help prevent flexing and kinking of the frame. Am I wrong? They seem pretty darn beefy. I see there is an...
I currently run a set of mid height bars at the same time as full height bars. It gives me two layers to mount things. I put a spare tire on the mid height bars and put 4 kayaks on the top bars. My tonneau cover rolls up with plenty of room under tall of that.
Did this new bumper and winch lower the ride height at all in the front due to the weight? I am already installing a pretty heavy 3/16 steel skid plate From RCI in the front and was wondering if the added weight of this would require heavier springs.
Wow! Thank you both for sharing your experiences. These are exactly the things I wanted to find out about before I pulled the trigger. I have been trying to decide between the two options and might actually do a hybrid approach based on your insights. I tow a teardrop trailer and do a bit of...
GLT, if you are still following this thread, I am interested in the exact same setup with springs and tires that you have. Do you have any regrets at this point? Do you like the tires? Did you have a massive hit to your fuel economy?
Thanks for the clarification. That does make a difference. It still may work with a little bit of flex in the cover and opening the cover at the very back. That’s what I have to do now. The fridge is 19.3 inches tall.
I have an access Larado cover that is flush with the top of the bed rails maybe 1/8 inch lower at most. My fridge is an Iceco that is just over 19 inches tall.
What is the max height of a fridge that Will fit on the bed slide and still clear a tonneau cover? That would be a major factor for me. I currently have a diy bed slide I made but it is super heavy and it barely clears my tonneau cover. Also, when are the bed slides going to be available for...
