besides the tie rods being weak, the racks were designed for cars, NOT trucks. here are pictures of the "bushings" inside fords rack that get destroyed after only a few thousand miles....Fords engineering department is a joke when it comes to steering.
Honestly that track is NOTHING compared compared to baja or KOH. you can disagree all you like but the problem still exists across all ford platforms. literally hundreds of busted tie rods on F150s, broncos, bronco Raptors, and severe rack damage as well.
a quick seach on you tube shows a...
Normally I do the same ...I avoided RC parts like the plague! But, I'm gonna give them a try because they are Forged and seem well made, Dorman also offers a HD tie rod, however I'm not sure they are long enough for the extended width of the ranger raptor.
Tomorrow...the ranger Raptors are so new nobody has tried it yet except me...even RC don't know it fits...I already spoke with them. All I needed was to confirm lengths, I already confirmed taper is the same at the knuckles.
the other components are adequate...the pinion is strong and the electrical motor is heavy duty as well. the steering knuckle itself is probably the next weak link after 74weld rack and HD tierods...
I got FMI fabricated knuckles from a F150 Raptor to install on the Bronco for this...
This only solves part of a problem, though. Because the steering rack itself is also a weak link after you fix the tyrod problem... The ford performance 3.0 rack is a definite upgrade, and the 74weld rack is the best one to buy....it's billet and the severe duty, (for jumbo tires) and heavy off...
I picked up a set of Jumbo Heavy Duty tie rods from RC for pur Ranger Raptor.
They are way bigger and stronger than the puny OEM tie rods that snap.
RC unit are forged steel.
These have grease zerk fittings at both ends! And a quality boot. The best part is even though these were designed for...
here's what most of Fords steering racks look like after bigger tires and a bit of offroading.
Evne tho I've never broken a tie rod, the bushings inside the racks are under-engineered and completely fail.
I recently upgraded rhe Bronco to the billet steering rack from 74Weld, and I'm glad I...
This list is about perfect!
The gave the big brother the Predator engine so it's more fitting if the Ranger-Raptor gets the voodoo engine!!!
Most of your list can actually be purchased easily and bolted on, (with a bit of welding) ,... and programing (I pioneered the Bronco Rack-Hack)...
I agree that running a spacer at the top of the coilover is definitely the way to go and yeah, it's far superior to perch collars. The perch collar just makes the spring stiffer, and it causes the ride to be not in the correct position on the shock absorber. I bought foutz products before and...
totally fine. try to run as short of a 2" hitch as possible. I drilled a new pin hole in my 4"drop hitch and it now sits almost 2" closer to the bumper. this keeps the leverage to a minimum.
On my bronco half cab, I've been running the hoss 3.0 Ford Performance rack and tie rods 50,000 miles on 40s...no issues so far! We will be upgrading our ranger raptor steering at the end of the summer
adding 74 welds Extreme Duty billet steering rack...and portals! most of these will fit Ranger and Ranger Raptor.
