Unless you bought the advance tow package to begin with, I do not think the wiring is there to support it on lesser tow package equipped vehicles.

Unless there is some slamming shock loading on the engine to cause it to go to redline, should not really be an issue in the short term. Still not ideal though IMHO. As to a courtesy vehicle, as the name implies, it is a courtesy and not an entitlement you get one while down for service.

They are call "scrivets". You have to use a phillips driver and with a very lite to almost no pressure try to unscrew them. Most will not screw out all the way but once the head raises off the base, you can pull the center section out and then the base is easy to pull out.
