The outlet is recessed into the bed sidewall. The mounting bracket extends a few inches into the bed. The outlet cover itself opens up farther than the male plug extends into the bed. No issues. Iām assuming Ford thought about this one a little bit.
Used the Ford accessories code (SUMMER2026) and got 20% off. The installation was pretty straightforward other than a few little glitches. It turns out that thereās still some red Loctite left on my tiedown bolts so I had to get them cleaned up again. The main bracket that attaches to the side...
I buy Mobil 1 at Costco. Did my first change at 966 miles and the second 5268. I use a Fram Ultra Sythetic filter. I currently have 7120 miles on the 2.3 and it just turned a year old this month. No, I'm not this anal, but the app has all the data and super easy to reference.

19/24 for the 2.7
Big tires and leveling really affect the hwy ratings
edit- My lifetime average mpg is 23+ on the truck
Glad to have you here! You answered my question about the other skid plates already, but Iām curious about your claim that the 2.7 gets better mpg. I saw as high as 26 on the freeway yesterday on a Seattle- Portland trip. Overall I averaged 24.3 mpg round trip and it was rainy and windy all day...
Been wanting to do this ever since I bought the truck and this set was on sale on the Ford Accessories site last month, so I pulled the trigger. Perfect fit, easy install. Kind of completes the rear end imo.
Since there arenāt any 5 year old Mavericks, the best comparison would be- does an Escape last 5 years? Iām not sure what your opinion is based on, but Iām skeptical.
