I take it your point is any outlay of cash is an investment. I agree, some are short term investments like buying a burger and fries, long term a house or a car. Some are investments that appreciate like a house, stocks, bonds others r depreciate like a car, cellphone, lawnmower etc.

My dealership has 800+ F150s on the lot and 8 to 10 Rangers. But they do have Ranger Raptors on the lot with 3 or so inbound continuously. Big discounts on F 150s but none on Rangers. Heck they don't even advertise their Rangers, you can only find them with vehicle search.
