I have had a similar problem where the shifter moves from D or R to park and will not engage until I shut down. Did you take yours in? Mine is currently in shop
I went WAY low tech on a chase light install. I just used tap connections on the brake and blinker wires at the rear of the truck and ran the wires between the bed and the cab. For the chase spots I ran a relay and switch from the battery/cab
