Thanks for the post! Def interested. Any concerns with the loss of the rear shutters? Not quite sure but I think they help pull in air when not in motion? I may be completely wrong.
They did and said it was in the middle of the hash marks. Again, they are used to the 2.3 and 2.7 engines in the Ranger. I wasnāt upset over it but diligent none the less.
I know there are many threads on this but older so posting a quick update.
I mainly just wanted to say thanks to this forum and all the input. I took my RR in for the brake recall so while there, had them perform an oil change and tire rotation. Because of what I had read on this forum, I...
Thatās fair, thanks for the clarification. I guess I read it differently but what you say makes sense as well. Obviously, I would like to run it w/o the side panel but donāt want the CEL so was hoping they would have just acknowledged it and said they would send me the part when ready vs...
Per their direct posting on the website and the detailed post from Nick0188 it is an issue and they are dismissing it:
I was the one who posted on Facebook with the CEL after installing. I talked to S&B a week or so ago and confirmed with them itās a real issue, but only on 2025ās. For 2025...
Sooo, I reached out to customer service and this is an odd response to their posting:
āAfter speaking to the engineering team, this shouldn't affect your vehicle. You can go ahead and install the kit as is. In the event of CEL just let us know and we can update yours with the revised parts when...
Wow, yes, quite the difference indeed! I've emailed customer service. Will leave it on until the fix is ready. Guess I should think seriously about an IC upgrade as well...*sigh*
Great info, glad I'm still watching this thread. I have my side panel on, so obviously no errors. RE: the comments on the side panel off, heat soak, etc. it's interesting that S&B specifically states this on their website:
"Our silicone edge trim provides a protective seal against unwanted...
Looks sharp, nice job! I was thinking of swapping out for the Cobb IC. How hard was that? Do the stock charge pipes have to be swapped out or more for looks?
I understand not using the side panel for more turbo noise, but is there any concern on pulling in hot engine air? That was my reasoning for leaving the side panel on. I could not see a path for any outside air to be drawn into that side opening due to its tight location.
None for me so far. Iāve been driving it without any issues. Were they throwing codes immediately, after driving for a while, with any other particular mods?
To be fair, I chose to use the side panel and have the top on. Maybe if you left the side panel and top off, you would hear more. Others may do this and can report. I wasnāt going for sound. I wanted more efficient airflow.
