No check engine light for me. The instructions called for battery disconnection as a first step with a warning that not doing so will result in a CEL. I pulled the negative before I started, perhaps the folks experiencing a CEL didn't disconnect the battery. Another possibility is that they damaged the temp sensor when removing from the old airbag or installing in the new one, its kind of chintzy and requires some finesse to remove without damage.

I'm always guilty of jumping in without reading instructions. How hard can it be? Right? Thanks for the tip on this one.

No codes perse but my exhaust modes were not available after install. My fault. I forgot to reconnect the temp sensor cable. After that, no issues.

On one of my Facebook groups, people are throwing codes after installing this intake. I'm hesitant now. Anyone here seeing any check engine lights yet?
None for me so far. I’ve been driving it without any issues. Were they throwing codes immediately, after driving for a while, with any other particular mods?

I believe it was within the first drive. They had a jb4 tune also.

That’s interesting because the video instruction does not mention disconnecting battery.

Not to mention I've never removed a battery connection for any intake I've ever installed.

Ah, maybe that tune? I have the FP tune and no problems.
I have the fp tune also. Maybe I should just do it.

I did not understand the battery thing either. I also dont know why the written instructions say to remove the hood latch. When I saw that I stopped reading and just followed the YouTube video. I cant imagine the car has any connection to any of the unplugged sensors while it is off.

Just finished my Intake install this morning (didnt remove any battery terminals) but I also did the Ford performance procal tune right after too. Took two drives so far and it runs great and no CEL. If one does pop up i'll report back with code numbers/condition.

Also I did not put the optional plug on the side of the intake box and YES it has more Turbo spool noise, and the bov is much more audible recirculating into the intake pipe. Not loud but just right... I like it. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I understand not using the side panel for more turbo noise, but is there any concern on pulling in hot engine air? That was my reasoning for leaving the side panel on. I could not see a path for any outside air to be drawn into that side opening due to its tight location.

There is no issue with heat soak in an intercooled engine. That's the point of the intercooler. I plan on not using the side panel for this reason

Not a true statement sir. Heat soak still happens even with an intercooler. That’s the whole point of upgrading to a larger intercooler. The factory intercooler doesn’t do its job well enough which results in heat soak.
