Depending on the manufacturer of the Tailgate LED light bar will make the difference between and easy install, just plug in the 4 pin connector or, if a signal isolator needs to be installed.

I would think in the scenario you described above that the sheet(s) of plywood would rest on the tailgate not the swing cases, so no additional weight would be placed on the Swing Case hinges. Regards

I went with the Lasfit for the Amber Canbus on the turn signals and the Auxito for the backup bulbs with the 7443 base. The CANBUS bulbs take care of the hyperflash.
