I had the Swing cases on my 19' Ranger and really liked them but, they stayed with my 19' when I traded it in. I got 39,XXX Ford points and just noticed that at Ford Parts.com, they are offering a 15% discount. Between my points and discount (04Nov25-28Nov25) I'm only paying $243.XX for 2 cases and brackets. Basically 1/2 the original price! That even included shipping and taxes!

Even with a spray in bed liner its maybe a 30min install! Now I'll have places to stow my ball mounts, tie-downs, tow rope, jumper cables and other goodies that I don't use too much but need to have for emergencies

Note: FWIW if you want the Swing cases Real Truck has them for $199.XX versus $249.XX before Ford November discount or $211.65 after the 15% discount.

Can you still put 4x8 sheets of plywood in the bed without the swing cases interfering?

Unfortunately only 43.5" between boxes, with both installed. However, boxes could be swung open, against the closed tailgate and the end of a 4 x 8 sheet or 2 could lay on top of the boxes I think, without any issue. Especially if a shim was put under the boxes, so as not to damage the box hinges.

I think that you can because they nest behind the wheel wells. When I get them installed I’ll put a tape measure to it.
The other option is to remove the Swing Cases, put them in the cab or leave them at home. The cases are very easy to remove. There are locking features that would slow down someone wanting to steal the cases (locking lids and locks to secure the cases from being removed from the brackets.

Sounds like just removing them and putting them in the back seat works the best.
thanks

30 minute install my ass.... the bolts holding the tie downs are lock tighted in to the M8 holes in the bed and trying to get the bolts out resulted stripping of the bolt heads due to the T40 bit you have to use. also ended up breaking my vise grips trying to remove the bolts... Im going to go to Home Depot and get some regular M8 bolts to replace them and then finish the install of the mounting bracket. oh yeah got to get a new vise grip also... what a pain in the ass....

A heat gun is your friend! My 3rd party installer told me the trick. Get a new GOOD T-40 and apply some heat to the bolt, they come out pretty easy that way. I also have a 47 year old manual hammer impact driver that also helps break them loose. Just little tricks of the trade, I've picked up over the years. When I worked big pumps we had to use 60" and 72" monkey wrenches. How do you spell brute force?

I only have one swing box, and even with one only, it will not fit a 4 foot width, so no full sheets of plywood. I only have the passenger side, because I did not want to cover up the power supply/station on the drivers side. Also, be aware that you lose a tide down nearest to the tailgate, as you use those thread bosses for the swing case bracket, a bummer as those are the tie downs brackets I use most. I am still trying to figure a way to add the tie down back.

Dirt Dad - You raise a good point re the tie down as i do use those for holding th plywood into the bed. Looks l;Ike a ‘no” on adding the boxes, bummer.

I would think in the scenario you described above that the sheet(s) of plywood would rest on the tailgate not the swing cases, so no additional weight would be placed on the Swing Case hinges.

I actually did the same thing! Used my Ford points and a 20% off code at the time to get the swing case on the passenger side. I did the install and it took about an hour since I had the drop in bed liner. The drop in bed liner was not designed with the swing case bracket in mind. Had to cut some pieces out.

Quite possibly, have not tried it as yet. Thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to be ready in case, when stopping by The BORG for a couple project sheets.

UPDATE:

HOLY CRAP! it took me about an hour and a half to finally get the tie down bolts out and be able to install the mounting bracket along the bed wall of the truck. I had to buy a heavy duty torque grips wrench and slowly remove the bolts. I tried the heat gun trick and while that helped it mainly took elbow grease to remove them. I replaced the T40 bolts with regular bolts I bought at Home Depot and all is installed now and works fine. Now I have to replace the lid of the box as the box fell off the tailgate of the truck and one of the hinges broke (should've known it was all too good to be true when I was able to remove the bolts) anyone know if Realtruck is able to replace just the lid?
