Still having a brake issue with my 1/2024 built XLT Ranger. Three times to the dealer and once with a ford factory rep looking at it. All said this is normal. Went to a local shop (Christian Brothers) and they bled air fromt he back brakes and that seemed to solve the issue for several...
I know there can be a lot of issues creating this soft pedal but no one has put a wrench to it yet! I'm not pressing hard on the brake pedal. Two Ford dealers and the Ford rep said this is normal. He actually said that a 2 3/4" brake pedal travel is within spec. Problem is brake pedal is at...
8 Common Reasons Why Your Brakes Feel Spongy When Pressed (With Fixes And Repair Costs) | The Motor Guy
Great article which explains all the causes of soft mushy erratic brake pedals. The Ford tech didn't even check for air in the lines. I read somewhere that some Rangers had left the...
Not knowing where the brakes are going to catch is a huge issue. Tapping them to go around a round a bout is useless. We’re not driving race cars here folks. Just trying to navigate safely. Driven hundreds of cars and never felt a brake pedal like this. Most catch and stop the vehicle with...
I can tell you that my 2024 XLT brakes (10,000 miles) have major problems that Ford is not interested in addressing and I'm currently working with the BBB to resolve the issue. 1. Brake pedal is very soft and routinely grabs at different heights and many times travels past the level of the gas...
Electronic brake force distribution is designed to apply the correct amount of braking force to each wheel to stop the vehicle during hard braking and emergency braking situations while maintaining stability control.
The Basics of Electronic Braking Force Distribution
When a vehicle brakes, the...
Sweet! Be sure to watch out for paint chips from stones kicked up by the front wheels. The area in front of the rear wheel is really susceptible to them. Good thing you have white paint as it fills better than most colors (thicker paint). I would highly recommend running boards or a membrane...
Just came back. No change with the brake assist toggled off. What I do notice is that as the car gets warmer the brake pedal gets softer and travels further.
Was backing up in a CVS parking lot and braking reverse sensor sensed a bush and brake pedal went all the way to the floor while telling me to apply brakes on the dash display. Mine go all the way to the floor when braking hard and ABS function is activated. Bugs isn't the word I'd use though...
Make sure to put running boards on it to avoid all the rock chips that will happen on the body panel area in front of the rear wheels. New paint takes at least 30 days to cure. Chip magnet! Good luck!
Nor am I. Could be air in the lines that wasn't bled from the factory or bad master cylinder. When actuating the ABS brakes (hard braking), the pedal is all the way on the floor and the truck takes longer to stop.
Dealer said it's "normal" for the brake pedal to catch at 3" depressed and continue to drop and lose pressure as it heads down another 3-4". I've had at least 3 close "rear end" calls. Ford is on it now. Hopefully, they'll find a fix. I'm not driving it.
