Not sure what type of system this is

That is the typical brake booster system. If that is what you have, testing for vacuum applies. I marked in blue your vacuum supply line and in red where it can be taken apart to see if vacuum is present. The clip connection would be the easiest and it's sealed with a o-ring usually.

I said the same thing when I was test driving 2 different Rangers.
(I bought the one with the better brakes. )
I feel like they have gotten better? or maybe I just used to them now? :sunglasses:

Just heard back from the dealer and they can't find anything wrong with brakes. They hooked it up to a computer and drove it 50 miles. Not sure where this is headed. I'll call Ford on Monday and maybe try another dealer?

Dealer said it's "normal" for the brake pedal to catch at 3" depressed and continue to drop and lose pressure as it heads down another 3-4". I've had at least 3 close "rear end" calls. Ford is on it now. Hopefully, they'll find a fix. I'm not driving it.

Was backing up, heard a warning beep of a car behind me. I stopped, went to Drive and went forward slightly and the brake pedal went to the floor. I saw some some small block on the radio panel and a beep. I released the brake pedal and pressed it again and it was back up to a normal position.

I drove around today and the brake pedal stayed in a normal position. These trucks are full of bugs.
Was backing up in a CVS parking lot and braking reverse sensor sensed a bush and brake pedal went all the way to the floor while telling me to apply brakes on the dash display. Mine go all the way to the floor when braking hard and ABS function is activated. Bugs isn't the word I'd use though. Dangerous? Yep.

I wouldn't drive it like that either because It Is Not Normal on any properly operational vacuum booster braking system I've ever seen in over 50 years! Keep us informed!

If you have the Driver assist braking system, if I read the innards of the recall correctly, turn it off and see if it affects your braking because if so, you can inform the dealership that it did and therefore might fall into the recall. If dealership doesn't listen tell Ford, if they don't listen tell NHTSA administration to get their attention. The ordeal is called downplaying or normalizing the issue in order to not have to spend time to try and troubleshoot and find the problem.
Great thought! I'll check that today. Haven't hardly driven it because of the issues. Thank you!

Just came back. No change with the brake assist toggled off. What I do notice is that as the car gets warmer the brake pedal gets softer and travels further.

Damn, sounds too familiar... When I start the car in the morning, all good but after 5 kilometers brakes are much softer.

I got a tip, that it is rear brake calipers fault if you have electrical parking brake? Try to drive without using handbrake, if that helps a little then it is the rear brake calipers. At least that is one known problem, sure there can be something else going on as well.
Hope it will be sorted out soon.

It does have the "E" brake so I'll look at the calipers. Thanks!
