Looking for some information regarding a sometimes soft brake pedal. It will travel 6" in stop and go traffic and hard stops. Was fine for a few days (1/2" depression and stopping at all speeds without sinking). Two dealers said its the way the truck works, not buying this as it's dangerous, and Ford customer service is relying on the dealer to tell them what's wrong. I'm kinda stuck in the middle. built in 1/2024 so just missed the recall by a month. Not even sure that would correct it. Thanks!

I thought there was some type of of master cylinder leak or elecrronic brake booster issue that was part of a TSB in some 25 models maybe there is more years to be discovered

Mine moves about 3" b4 catching and then another 1 1/2 - 2 inches before stopping. Past weekend the pedal moved 1/2" before catching and no further. It's the inconsistency that worries me. Hopefully the mechanic who looks at it Tuesday knows more about this issue then I do!

Air in the brake lines?

isnt there a way for the technicians or forscan users to bleed the brakes?

it would seem an easy thing to try

Was backing up, heard a warning beep of a car behind me. I stopped, went to Drive and went forward slightly and the brake pedal went to the floor. I saw some some small block on the radio panel and a beep. I released the brake pedal and pressed it again and it was back up to a normal position.

I drove around today and the brake pedal stayed in a normal position. These trucks are full of bugs.

I'm heading that way. The dealer doesn't use forscan so would have to take it privately and potentially void the warranty. Have to find a local mechanic. Thanks!

I've read that the recall of the 2025 and some 2024 software issues was that the system could get interfered with electronically.

If you have the Driver assist braking system, if I read the innards of the recall correctly, turn it off and see if it affects your braking because if so, you can inform the dealership that it did and therefore might fall into the recall. If dealership doesn't listen tell Ford, if they don't listen tell NHTSA administration to get their attention. The ordeal is called downplaying or normalizing the issue in order to not have to spend time to try and troubleshoot and find the problem.

a ford technician or Someone with the ford ‘stuff’ shouldn’t need forscan

and sending can bus messages to bleed the brakes shouldn’t void a warranty

in certain conditions a voltage ‘drop?’ Could cause the electronic brake booster to think that the electric motor driving the brake booster was in an overcurrent situation and shut off

but the way I read that it doesn’t suddenly come back and you have to turn it off

the way I read it is could occur in normal driving and adas does not have to be on.

it’s a 24 Xlt so I would first check if it has an electronic brake booster

the brakes should still work even if the vacuum or electric boost is off

put it in neutral with the engine off and see how they feel.

Thank you. This is exactly what is happening but I'm not getting a message or alert. Driver mode not available popped up this morning for about 5 minutes and the brakes were working fine. Tomorrow, who knows??? BTW, the pedal is firm with the truck off and in neutral.

I told a service advisor at the dealership where we bought our '24 STX 4x4 Ranger that I thought the brakes were rather weak and sort of mushy. He said "don't worry, that is a learning brake system and when it learns more about how you and your wife drive, it will improve." 😐

And yes, he said it with a straight face, after just peddling the same line about the transmission. "Shifts will smooth out as it learns more..." 😉 No shit. 😐
