  1. What did you pay-Non Raptor Ranger Please

A few days ago, I built a Ranger Lariat with 2.7 and a few options. $55k sticker. Then I built a F-250 CC 4x4 with V8 and a few options. $56k sticker. Different trim levels, but similar interior content on both because of how they package stuff. Obviously a LOT more room and capability with...
  2. Recall 26S35: 2025-2026 Ranger 2.3L Engine Assembly Replacement [May 28, 2026]

So that's Ford, GM, Toyota, and Stellantis that now have serious engine issues and/or recalls going on with their 4x4s. Does any company know how to build engines anymore?
  3. Artemis 2 launch

It's the 1960s. We don't even have the tech to make 8-bit video games yet. Cars mostly don't have air conditioning yet. People hang their clothes on lines to dry them and shovel coal into fireplaces to stay warm in winter. And you're telling me that in that era, we put men into a tin can...
  4. 2025 2.7 - loud whoosh, turbos?

You are asking them to give you a new $45,000 truck because a $5 dollar hose wasn't connected for 48 hours. A wise man once said: "Pick your battles." I have been around automotive mechanics and shops for 47 years. If that was MY truck I wouldn't have even contacted the dealership. I...
  5. 2025 2.7 - loud whoosh, turbos?

On November 30 it had 3 miles on the odometer, two days later it had 200 miles, and the day after that it had 150? Anyway, in less than 200 miles your engine didn't suck in enough contaminate to damage it in any way. I would ask the dealership to change the oil and filter for free and then...
  6. Giving Up on BFG KO3's

Quality control on BFGs is very hit or miss. LOTS of reports of them being "squares" and hard to balance. They like to dry rot in the sun. Tread tends to wear funny. Yet there are some guys who love them. I've had tremendously good luck with Falkens. The A/T, A/T3W, and now A/T4W have...
  7. My new 2025 Ranger Lariat 2.7L business fleet truck builds.

Keep us updated on how that truck does for you. I'm curious if the engine issues and transmission valve body issues are as common as people say they are.
  8. 2.7 identical between Ranger and F-150?

With that being said which specific oil are you putting in yours?
  9. 2.7 identical between Ranger and F-150?

Yeah it's not close. The 3.5L makes mechanics a LOT of money. I myself have had the misfortune of doing 14 hour timing jobs on them. They are trash, particularly the Gen 2 version from 2015-2018ish. My brother still has a Gen 1 3.5L and he works on it every year but it's still going. I...
  10. 2.7 identical between Ranger and F-150?

Not looking to tune one, I just want reliability. And from everything I've seen over the last 15 years, the 2.7L is the best "EcoBoost" engine Ford has released. It is almost universally praised, whereas ALL the other engines in the family have rampant complaints. Looks like I can build an...
  11. 2.7 identical between Ranger and F-150?

Is the engine in the Ranger literally identical to the one they drop in the F-150? No changes at all? It's got an excellent track record in F-150 so I'm thinking if I pick up a Ranger that's an upcharge that would be worth it.
  12. Official: Ford Ranger Tremor (North America) Confirmed for Later 2026!

No, I don't mean 392 which is a special limited edition (and I'm not sure is even available anymore in favor of a new Moab special edition that's FAR less money). I'm talking top trim levels. Rubicon in Wrangler/Gladiator. Raptor in Ranger. ZR2 in Colorado. Pro-4X in Frontier. In...
  13. Official: Ford Ranger Tremor (North America) Confirmed for Later 2026!

Yes, I have. I shopped them all over the last few months and brought home a loaded Rubicon. Loaded Rubicons are going for $50k. A GM ZR2 similar. The Raptor is astronomically priced for what it is. I honestly don't understand how it could be viewed otherwise.
  14. Official: Ford Ranger Tremor (North America) Confirmed for Later 2026!

You think a $60k midsize truck is underpriced? My goodness... GM is cheaper. Jeep is cheaper. Nissan is cheaper.. if we're looking at top trim levels.
  15. KO3 tires tested by Tire Rack off-road + My Experiences

I think a lot of people hesitate on the KO3 because of how poor the KO and KO2 were. I even had a tire shop manager tell me two summers ago that he no longer recommends BFG to guys when they come in because, in his words, "they're squares". Said he has lots of nightmares trying to get them...
  16. KO3 Treadwear Warranty

Extremely mild tread pattern. For a guy 99.5% on pavement they would likely be an excellent choice. The way the outer lugs are closed up makes me think it'll be a quiet tire. Probably not good in the mud or deep snow, but excellent for highway use and rainy days. Having said that I haven't...
  17. KO3 Treadwear Warranty

We just wrapped up a review at the end of last year with the Falken A/T3W and we saw over 75k miles on those in 295/70R18 LT-E sizing on a F-250 6.7L truck. Simultaneously, I was running the Falken A/T4W in 35x12.50R18 on a separate F-250 6.7L truck and at 20k miles they were only showing 3/32...
  18. CD Player Option

I REALLY missed having CD players in my newer vehicles. But SiriusXM has become an excellent replacement for me. $5 bucks per month and more content than I can possibly listen to in one trip commuting each day. And nothing to download, connect to my dash, or fiddle with. I love it.
  19. Kentucky Adventure Trail

Cool. I need to check that out this summer. If you haven't been to the Turkey Bay OHV area in western KY you should put that on your list this year. Go before April and you can drive the trail that runs along the shore of KY Lake and get pictures of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see.
  20. $60 synth blend. $200 full synth. Which you picking?

OIl and filter both $30 from Walmart. And that's with multiple quality brands to pick from.
