That extra foot means a lot to me. I do a lot of long term wilderness adventures and must carry a lot of supplies, clothing and gear to allow me to stay in the wilderness long term without having to resupply all the time. I build cabinets to hold most everything and that extra foot gives me a...
As of now, I will probably just continue to drive my 02 FX4. I has over 300K miles on it, but it drives and runs as did when new. It is still in great condition too. I was planning to keep it anyway, but wanted to get a new vehicle to keep the miles down on my trusty 02.
I really wanted to buy a 2025 Ranger. My requirement were pretty basic. I wanted the 2.7L V6 and a Supercab with a 6 ft bed. A Tremor with that would have been ideal but I could build my own if needed. Ford came through on the V6 engine but failed me on the Supercab. Now, I will be looking...
Ford had a balance shaft for a few years on the early 4.0 SOHC V6. Apparently, they decided it was not needed and dorpped it around the 2001 to 2002 period. Mine does not have one and I don't see how it could be any smoother.
Around 80 mph, I do get a slight vibration but I am very sure it...
Corner balancing a race car is different than lifting the front of a Ranger. When corner balancing, one wheel is worked on at a time. Lifting only one corner does in increase the weight on that wheel. Same goes if you lift diagonal corners. That increases weight on both of those wheels as...
I don't have a 2024 Ranger but I do have a 2002 Ranger with over 300K miles on it. I did a torsion bar lift of 1.5 inches shortly after buying it new. I consider a torsion bar lift equivalent to a spacer because it does not create a preload. It just changes the suspension geometry similar to...
I don't think electrification will affect me. I am already 77 and by the time I am ready for another vehicle after I get my next one, I should probably not be on the road. Then again by that time I may finally grow up and stop acting like a kid, as my good friend and ex-wife suggests I do.
I decided not to install sliders. I was on the fence about installing sliders but liked the Rocky Road sliders. After they did not fit, I fell on the side of the fence to not install.
I have never had sliders but all my friends that I spend time in the remote wilderness with kept telling...
Well for me, there are many reasons that I won't get into because most are just personal choices. However, the main reason is; I am a true blue Ford man. I know they are not perfect but I trust the engineering and find when I need to work on them, it is not a new, complicated learning experience.
I ordered rock sliders from Rocky Road for my 02 Ranger many years ago. They mounted to the frame using mostly existing holes. A few holes had the be drilled in the frame though.
The problem I ran into was the Ranger that they used for fitting the sliders had a body lift and wojuld not fit...
It is not a single customer issue regarding non availability of the Supercab. I am another waiting for one and there are many more also waiting. Toyota or Nissan is not an option for me. I may just keep running my 02 Supercab Ranger. it is still running strong.
This is a very old argument that will not go away. K&N has also not gone away. Say what you want but I will continue to use K&N air filters. However, I will not use them in a vehicle with a turbo that is used in dusty conditions.
I base my usage on long term real life results, not some short...
Sorry, the only thing that is crap is that statement. As I said before, I have used K&N air filters on all my vehicles since the mid 70s. That has to total more than a million miles of K&N filtered air into engines. Many of those miles were in extremely dusty conditions. I have never once...
As very long term user of K&N filters, I very much agree with you. I think where the problem with turbos comes in with dusty conditions that anyone would get in off-road or other than paved roads. I don't have any personal experience with turbos that are filtered with K&N filters but I respect...
Are there still police that use radar? I stopped using my radar detector a few years ago because the only alarms I got were false alarms. I thought speeding enforcement had switched over to laser.
I have run K&N filters on all of my vehicles since the mid 70s.. I have never seen any damage from particles passage through the filter. On my current Ranger with 300K miles on it, I wipe down he inside of the intake tube after the filter with a white cloth each time I clean the filter. I...
I think it is a good idea for the first 1,000 miles or so not to rev too high. I know Ford used to recommend not holding it at a steady rpm during that period. They preferred changing the rpm often.
I don't treat my 02 Ranger like trash but I do make it work out and don't hesitate to hit...
